Winter woe's.

Post by Baff1960 »

Hi all.

When I worked on aircraft 98% of damaged caused to airframes was by " hanger rash " - when they're parked up or during maintenance. They were most vulnerable whilst not being used.
So when nobbing about around the bikes in the garage during the winter lay up its no surprise something could happen despite your best intensions.
I can fix most things but defiantly didn't want to drop that small heater on the tank putting a small but very noticeable dent in it. I spent a lot of time restoring it including splitting it, dent removal, zinc plating, welding it back up and painting it myself. Surprisingly though I wasn't as mad as I thought I might be when it happened.
Checked out the options/recommendations on the forum and decided to use Motorcycle Dent Removal Ltd run by Andy Mawrey near Pickering. His place of work is less than an hour from me so delivery/collection was done in person.
Repair completed in a week and perfect job. Defiantly recommend his service. Quick and trouble free.
One unexpected consequence of this little " ding " was the need to swap the original fuel tap [ tubular type ] to a later type due to the seal drying out whist the repair was being done. Think I'm slightly more annoyed at that !

Hi.

Total cost for the removal was £140. Each dent removal is quoted individually after inspection. My tank is solid with no filler. For all the effort I put into it considered it very reasonable.

I would have been VERY pissed if I had of dented that paintwork as that is my favourite triple colour scheme.
There is no such thing as bad drink, just some better than others.
