New H2b engine or rebuild ?

Guys , just bought an H2b 1974 and after the first run (approx 80 miles ) it’s pouring out gearbox oil
I’m not great on mechanic side so asked my trusted garage to look at it and was told it’s leaking between the crankcase halves , by the clutch cover and also it’s got a hinge coming from mixed oil and petrol dripping down into the well under the carbs and blowing back , also it’s got piston slap on right side piston oh and the sprocket oil seal on gear shaft is leaking
So basically I’ve bought a duff one
What do u think ? Source a reconditioned H2b engine and put that in or find someone to do all this work? Because my mechanic said it’s too longer job for him at this time of year

If you aren't 'great' with mechanics then don't mess with the bike ...my advice is contact Downpipe3 on here who is the guru for fixing engines, if it can be fixed then that will be a better and probably cheaper alternative to buying another engine

First port of call has to be the place or person you bought it from.
That is shocking.
I feel for you. I hope you get your money back.

O I feel your pain, as said before try to get your money back and if that doesn't work then Gary Clarke or Neil the don, both on here, last thing and only if engine can't be repaired should you look for a replacement engine especially if its the original engine to the bike.

Contact the seller first, if no joy then as has been suggested, get in touch with Gary Clarke - downpipe3, and get the engine rebuilt properly

Sorry to hear your already struggling with your new bike Phil. Hopefully this poor start won't blight your future enjoyment of the bike..
But if you were truly ripped off then either take it back and try for a refund if possible (and take a big mate along) or name and shame.

N E how..

The crankcases halves have a weak point at the front RHS where the three faces come together. Upper and Lower Case, and the Clutch Cover. I'm tempted to think that someone might have used too much sealant on the Crankcase halves and/or not paid much attention there, so it may be a simple fix just a fair bit of work involved.

And your leaking carbs mixing with the oil might also simply need Fuel valves or maybe even not had the Fuel height set properly so another simple problem.
