Post by downpipe3 »

i have in for repair a 69 h1 that has a bit of a head scratcher problem
the bike starts up and runs but will not pull away under throttle
i have cleaned the carbs
replced the fuel tap gasket which had broke up
the fule tank cap was not venting and causing a vacume in the tank
i have checke dthe timing
the compression is abit out 120/155/130
i have fitted new plugs they are at 39thou
i tried another a box
it tried a b box
generator
sg rotor
rotor
i even tried the carbs off my h1a
and it still will start but when you open the throttle it jsut goes UURRRRRGHHH and dies
the only thing i have not tried is to change the coil and the genertor lead assembly for the left hand side
ANY THOUGHTS ANYONE ?

A spark can look good outside the cylinder but if a coil is weak it can fail under load.

Take it with you, perhaps it just needs a good clear out... Ha ha Foxy your such a card, yeah do what i "used to do Gaaaaaary" Once it starts holding back change up a gear & "DEATH IT" this is a sure way to either unblock it or more than likely "trash the motor"

i think i may have solved it
battery is 2 years old
a cupfull of acid in it ,its been overcharged at some point ,it has 1 of those trickle charger leads on it

it shows 12volts but its dry and all the plates are warped i think it may also be cracked
i have a fresh battery on charge abd will try it tonight

weird it showing 12volts though !
