What tools & spares do you carry?

Hi all. My H1's toolbox is entirely empty, I see I can get a replica of the Kawasaki toolkit from Z-Power, but what tools & spares have people actually found are useful to carry? My immediate list is:

Plug spanner
Spare Plug(s)
Screwdrivers- JIS & flat
Fuses
Cable ties & lockwire
Grips or pliers
Spanners/sockets 10/12/13/14/17mm ish & 24mm

all ideas welcomed...

I wouldn't advise considering a 'genuine' tool kit unless you want to take out a second mortgage

Make up a kit of your own, the items that you have listed are a good starting point

BOOM .....you said it Davy I think plugs and a plug spanner, pliers, cable ties, tape .....couple of screwdrivers and an adjustable spanner and small metric spanners....10/12mm 13/14mm and 17mm cheap spanners and maybe the original type spanner and bar for back wheel nut....and a bit of cable in case of obvious leccy problems. The pattern kit from Z Power is possibly a good basis to start

I've drawer full of past motorcycle toolkits,right from a BMW R90S \through a Z1 and onto a ZX10R. Nasty bits of bent pig iron.

Yet I still keep them.

The H2 has a set of "fit's everything" spanners (minus the big Sprocket nut size), pliers, double ended screwdrivers, plug spanner. 3 pre loved plugs.

The S1 has a standard toolkit and 3 pre loved plugs.

A quick once over before the off is always 2 mins well spent. In addition to the standardish tool kit I carry a good ( Knipex ) adjustable and a proper ( Snapon + bits ) screwdriver. Otherwise its call the missus for backup or the RAC.

Hi, I carry the following in my 500 tailpiece.
Sprocket nut and washer
Piston, rings, gudgeon pin, circlips, head and base gasket, emery cloth
Oil pump
clutch lifter
clutch cable
fuel pipe
nuts and washers M6 M8 M10
Chain link (not much use now with rivet chains)
The tools to fit all of the above (not that many really)
Cable ties and wire.
and of course spark plugs.

Have used all of the above at least once over the years.

Thanks, some great ideas so far. Hopefully I don't need the full top end kit though, yes I do have an AA card for moments like that. I have also checked out the original genuine toolkit parts and indeed needed a lie down after seeing those prices. Fuel pipe and sprocket nut/washer are great ideas too, and yes a bit of electrical cable has come in handy on other bikes. So far so good

I've never carried anything unless i'm doing a plug chop and saying that even with a lot of 'messing' about in the garage I have yet to oil a spark plug over the last 5 years, the thought has never crossed my mind to carry any spares or tools tbh, worth thinking about though I guess

I suppose it depends how far you plan to ride. If I was going a fair distance,I'd be more inclined to prepare for spannering.

TBH i don't carry too much spares wise. The only issue I have had is blown ignition boxes at the Kent rally. Managed to borrow a set from a very nice club member, so I could get home. Then when the Kawacati got stuck in first gear. Had to get carted home.
They only addition to standard toolkit tools would be cable ties.

Good points about how far it's likely to get ridden, I do tend to like using my bikes, my Seeley Honda has done over 160000 miles now (I'd love a Seeley triple to go with it), but I guess the H1 is less likely to get many miles on it

I had a rear puncture about 25 miles from home last year, fortunately my mate with a van came to the rescue. My brother had a flat battery on his RD400 only about 3 miles from home, I managed to go and get a spare battery and some jump leads to get him going.
So neither breakdown could have been cured with spares or tools.
When we next start getting out ( fair weather riders) my brother and I are investing in AA recovery.
