Kh250 run in time

Hi all,
That's my kh250 project on the road now looking for advice on how many miles and rev range Running engine in with new crank ,rebore and pistons/rings, as I don't want engine to go pop,
Any advice appreciated

Hi Paul, not sure on the correct running in method for a KH250 but this is what I do.

1. First 500 miles up to 4000rpm
2. Next 250 miles up to 6000rpm
3. Next 250 miles up to red line in short blasts or up to red line once or twice in a ride
4. After 1st 1000miles of the above anything goes

I'm sure some one will have the correct Kawasaki method for a KH250 but that is what I use across all my rebuilds,

I would say cut those miles x 5. Free revving ok. Avoid loading up on hills. Ran many in. Most get hell after a few hundred miles.

Mainly just avoid slogging it uphill or riding two up.

Some people, of two stroke sage status, will say to just cane the arse off them from the first start. I just slowly build up the revs and speed. mainly in case of anything not being secure and letting go rather than barrel and piston worries.

Back in the day, Kawasaki Dealer instructions were:- not above 4000RPM for 500miles, then not above 6000RPM for 500miles, then anything goes.
