Mucky tank

Post by Ollie »

Hi fella's
I've got a tank that got 35 year old fuel in it....still! the paint work is in really great order and there is no rust inside the tank. Problem is some of the fuel which has gone rotten (obviously) has turned into a flaky "varnish" all over the inside.
I want to clean it out but don't want to damage the paint, any one got any Ideas? A mate suggested white vinager, but his just guessing like me.

Hi, I use white vinegar with great results cleaning tank internals especially when trying to save the paint work. Really good for rust but you need to neutralise it by using bi carb of soda (baking power) diluted in warn water after you drain the vinegar. Thumbs Up

There are lots on you tube to show you how it's done, may be worth watching before you start if you haven't done it before, but an easy one to do you just need time , Thumbs Up
