H1D tank of oil,
Hello, I have just bought a 1973 H1D, can anyone tell me how many petrol tank refills I would expect on a full 2T oil tank, also I'm running B9HS plugs, I haven't had a real good chance of taking it out yet, waiting for the salt on roads to finish, love it, needs using, thanks in advance, zaiph

Re: H1D tank of oil,
If you're an average rider like the rest of us fill it up now and only probably need to fill it up again next year, just keep an eye on the window. Even after the oil disappears from the tank window you'll have over 100miles before starting to worry.
It is good practice to let it run very low and then remove the outlet, because there is a gauze filter in there that accumulates crap from who knows where, it can eventually clog and stop the oil flow.
I don't think anyone has calculated the how many tanks to how many tanks of fuel ratio..

Re: H1D tank of oil,
I check oil usage on all my bikes as its a good early warning for when things are going wrong. So when all is good and the bike runs good I get 450 miles to 1 liter of 2 stroke running at +/- 55 to 1 fuel oil ratio.
When the ratio changed to 66 to 1 I stared looking at the oil pump to find the O rings in the pump had gone hard. Have just rebuilt the pump so have not got any figures after rebuild.
I keep a record of miles done between oil top ups. I also know my H1d averages 35 mpg. Therefore miles covered divided by 35 = gallons of fuel used. Very rough numbers as the mpg can change with riding style.
Gallons x 4.546 = liters. Divided by oil filled into tank = fuel to oil ratio.
Oh yeah, welcome to the club. Lots of good advice here if and when you need it.
