H2C Oil Advice / Tyre Advice

Post by Nigel Thorpe »

Hi all. Seeking a bit of advice:
OIl. What is the goto 2 stroke oil used on these. I have no history on the bike so don't know what oil is in it so what oil to put in it. Do you go mineral/semi-synthetic/full synthetic. Would you drain and flush the system? Bike ran OK on inspection.
Tyres. I know the tyres are unusable. Date code on the rear is 0301, so they have to go. So what are the go to tyres on these, for regular road use?
Grateful for any thoughts.

You've asked the two questions that are guaranteed to give you a million different answers I'm afraid... :D

Two stroke Oil, chuck any old cheapie Mineral or semi synthetic stuff in mate. Just don't chop and change.
Carlube has always been my choice but has started creeping up in price now. So maybe a permanent change to Smith Allan Oil is on the cards..

Tyres, RoadRiders or TT100s.

Now I can sit back and enjoy the fun.. :smt005

I use shell 2T available from local shell garages although I usually buy it 6 bottles at a time off Ebay.
just a simple mineral oil, used it for years with no problems.
Tyres, I run Bridgestone BT46s on all my bikes. I WAS a real hard rider at one time and never had any issues.
Now I just tottle about so as long as they were round and black they would probably do.
Just recently put a set on my Z1 for the TT and they were £255 fitted (I supplied new inner tubes from Z power).
You can get them cheaper if your prepared to fit them yourself?

I've Roadriders on the H1a and BT46 on the H1b. Both bikes will run out of ground clearance loooong before the tyres lose grip.

I've a stock of Castrol Power One semi synthetic. It leaves vapour trails as well as any of them.

Thanks for replies.
skub: I've got 4 litres of Power 1 semi on the way, so that decision made. Thanks.

Wolfie: does that mean only 999996 replies to go?

For great tyres with the retro look in the original sizes use Heidenau tyres. for the front use their K44 tyre & for the rear use their K36 tyre.
As for 2T oil i just buy a 20 litre can of semi synthetic from RYE OIL.
