Ivan carb kit

So I’ve been trying to buy said carb kit from supplier.
He’s still looking for a reputable machinist, his words, not mine.
So no kits are available yet.

Weren't they in the process of moving premises and this has disrupted things?

Yes Ivan was moving, but according to him over the phone, one of the main problems is that the company/guy who used to make his parts decided to retire. Ivan did say that he wanted to continue doing the kits - can't wait. I'm after 2 of them.

Has anyone contacted Ivan recently? Back in September time he suggested contacting again in March this year.

If I recall wasn`t there issues surrounding Ivan`s carb kits quite a while back and the consensus among members was that Motocarb were the only reliable source for quality carb kits ?

Ivan 'carb kit' is a selection of std Mikuni main and pilot jets plus Ivans own jet needle design, it's really only the needle that is different (although he includes a new needle jet that I believe he also makes but is std size) the jet needle has multiple different tapers along it's length v the std needle (5EJ15 or 5FL14) which I believe have only one taper angle.

Motocarb mostly only supplies std Mikuni parts but with a wealth of knowledge from Steve, there are very few std Mikuni (Kawasaki) needles available these days.

Even with an Ivans kit fitted your bike can still run like an absolute pig if not set up correctly, as an eg I rode a H2c with an Ivans kit and zero surging (said the owner) he was correct, no surging at all but also a bike that was that rich it 4 stroked until it got past 60 mph in the higher gears, I imagine he had a good supply of new spark plugs handy.

The best I can get my bike to run is with either the Ivans needle, the 5FL14 or the 5EJ15 needle and once set correctly they are all very similar in riding experience but not perfect, by that I mean I can cruise at any speed and rpm with no surging at all, the difference comes when I close the throttle very slowly and how far it can be closed before the surging chaos starts,

If I can slowly close the throttle by about 3/4 of how far I have it open and completely close it with no surging that's about as good as it gets with just that little bit of 'no go' throttle opening that can be easily avoided.

Of course the following day depending on our UK weather could be a whole different experience :lol:

Hi

When I had a h2, I wasn't happy with the surging and went to great lengths to lessen the effects, as detailed within the forum pages.

Eventually settled for an ivans kit, which changed the characteristics and eliminated the surging. It performed similarly to a gt750 but I missed the hooligan element.
