H2C - Riders footrest rubber

Post by Nigel Thorpe »

So, H2C, looking at changing the RH footrest as the bracket is bent. Is it possible, or how, do you get the rubber off of the old spindle? There is no 'give' in the original that is fitted at present. Thank you.

I can only suggest that putting the rubber in very hot/boiling water might soften it. Then, with the footrest metal held firmly in a vice, pushing from the inner end of the rubber might do it. Pulling will do no good at all!

If the bracket is bent why not just take the complete footrest off, straighten the bracket and refit?
Or am I missing something?

Has resisted all attempts so far. It looks cast to me, so am a bit reluctant in case it cracks and don't want to get too much heat to the rubber. I'll try the boiling water on the rubber next.
