There were some interesting grey import 250s on the Diffrent Strokers stand - this is a tandem twin

According to the notes(pic after next), this was 1 of 5 left on the road (I had a 71 model in 1977 - my first road bike)




This GT750 special weighs 70 Kg less than the std model.

Apparently the Post Office used to use loads of BSA Bantams like this. Probably great fun if you were 16 in the Fifties ?

I wondered if maybe our club should do something like this - it was a Rolls engine battery driven (& lit) so you could see how the parts moved.
Then I thought it would be unlikely anyone would have a spare Rolls engine.



There were also some cars there, in the other halls.

the ajs is a 500cc side valve four stroke.You can see the valve chest on the inside of the "v" on the cylinders.Nice pics.

The show was OK, albeit HUGE with all the cars there, so the bikes seemed a bit lost in the main show.

Getting loaded and out of the place is quite a challenge as they don't open the gate until 18:15 when they only let a few in at a time while hundreds of classic cars are turning ou of the place. It's a bit over controlled but what can we excpect from the NEC.

The stand was great though so well done Tango & Jen for setting up and staying the weekend. Also Nick & Jill for making the effort on Sunday (and bringing sausage rolls, pork pies and VERY HOT Mustard).

Also thanks to John Magee for taking my bikes up on the Thursday evening and helping to set the stand up. I had to go to the US at short notice and nearly pulled out had it not been for John's help.

I got in from San Francisco on Saturday afternoon so I made it on Sunday morning (with a van to take my two offerings home). Somewhat travel tired and Jet Lagged I was a tad grumpy when I arrived but the day unfolded well. With Rich and Stu turning up on the Sunday we all got away in reasonably good time

If we do it next year I will make the effort again. If not then Hey Ho.

That pic of my KR250 makes it look like there's a huge dent in the tank ! There isn't, or at least there wasn't. You've got me worried now...

Well done on a nice line-up of Triples as usual. Nice to spend a few minutes chatting with you all, wish I'd had more time to wander round the rest of the show really.

Regards the BSA Bantams, my dad worked for the post office in Saarffend workshop for 41 years and the posties would often come into the workshop and say they were running backwards.

Yep - I once had a heap of a 125cc bantam I I got it running backwards once - not quite sure how...

Best I could come up with as an explanation was that the lift point on the contact cam was symmetrical, so timing was close enough whichever way the thing was running.

yep, that and the porting are close enough. Usually kicks off with a backfire after a soft prod on the kick start which sends it backwards. Now stop talking crap on this board, Nick, and lets get down the pub

I asked what happens to all the brand-new carpet after the show and they said it gets binned. What a waste. So while packing the van on the Sunday night I liberated a roll of red.

Today, with a break in the snow and nothing on Christmas telly, I turfed everything out of my garage and carpeted it. Not a very professional job to be honest, but it looks much better than dirty concrete, feels warmer already and it cost nothing. No more sweeping up for me, from now on I'll be hoovering...
