international bike show , nec

Post by HIGGSPEED »

Well, its on again, and as usual i am doing my bit for Blueflame, working on the stand for 11 days straight :(
So , if you are coming down, dont forget to come and say hello at the Blueflame stand in the main hall, Hall 1, directly opposite Kawasaki !!

Its a bit strange this year as the mighty Honda have decided not to appear this year. Their stand normally dominates hall 1, and must cost about half a million, so it is not too suprising they are not here, with the recent cutbacks they have been making. The Kawasaki stand looks good though. There are a lot of empty spaces dotted around the halls though , which they have just filled with tables and chairs.Still plenty to look at though.
Press day today, loads of celebs around. As i stood on my stand i saw loads of famous racers and celebs, i was gonna list them , but frankly i can't be bothered!! Probably the most unexpected was a lost looking Troy Corser standing around on his own for ages.
Actually , i am going to mention a few because these people took the time to constantly stop for photos for people without complaining which i thought was nice, James Toseland, Steve Parrish, Niall Mckenzie, Troy Corser, Bradley Smith, Tom Sykes, James Whitham and Neil Hodgson. All very sporting decent blokes.
The only bloke who didnt look too friendly was Fogarty, who just sort of grunted at people without even slowing down his march around with his entourage.
My fave bike of the show though is in the streetfighter section. It is a '78 Z1000, heavily modified with a very very neatly installed supercharger, in classic Kawasaki green. A stunning bike with amazing attention to detail, yet still a bike you could happily jump on and ride on a sunday. Top marks that man.

catch you all later

The bike I would have rolled out of there is the Yamaha R6. Fits me like a glove, made to measure and ready for the track as well as the road. Trick, trick trick and 'catch me if you can' if I had one (up against a Gixer? well maybe on the twisty bits).

it has been good to see all you guys who have visited me at the show. It is a long 10 days and it is nice to see familiar faces and chat about classics for a change.
Cheers!!
