KIC

Post by Van »

Having problems with my disc again, just tried to install on my new laptop with Vista. Loads OK but cannot find the disc when making an enquiry :?

Any ideas anyone? must admit it has always played up a bit on whichever hardware I`ve used it on

Install it permanently on your laptop, so that you don't require the disc to run it.

Sorry I can't remember who posted this originally to give credit:-

How to load KIC to your C: Drive ( Hard drive )

Put KIC CD IN CD Drive
Load KIC , if your first use
Leave KIC CD in your Drive
Right click on ?START?
Left click on ?EXPLORE?
Pull the Scroll Bar down til you see the drive you put the KIC CD in ( D: , E: or F: )
Left click on that drive to open KIC
Find Folder named ?69?
Left click and DRAG ?69? up to C: and release
The 69 folder will copy over to your hard drive

Now open KIC
Left click on ?Utilities?
Left click on ? Configure Smartpart?
Left click on the Blue PATHS tab
In the #1 Column, Left click on the X enabled ( leaving no x )
In the #2 Column, under NAME- type C and under PATH- type C now click the White Boxes , FIXED and ENABLED so they both have X?s in them

Click ESCAPE til you are at the opening page of KIC

Remove your KIC CD from your Drive

KIC should work on demand with-out CD

Also ESC Button ( ESCAPE ) will back up any position in KIC or you can Hold it down and backup all the way to the beginning ( Saves time closing all those X?s on all the screens you open

Dealer number or verification code ?

Dealer number is not necessary. Verification code is.

It makes no difference if its installed, says it cannot find what you are looking for, doesn`t make sense?

As far as the dealer code goes just make one up four digits and a state code, ie 5846 CA

Works for me, but you have to copy the files to the root directory of your c drive (C:\69) and follow the instructions to the letter.
