What about this for an idea?

Post by h2chris »

This was actually young Nipper me lad's idea - to have a sort of Rally at Shakespeare County in the summer. Shakey is a great venue as it's central to most, ton's of camping space, showers & toilets and best of all a bar and even a dance floor for all you budding Andy Hayley's!! During the day you can race your bike, talk to your mates - if you have any, Betty  and go on a decent ride-out incorporating a stop for lunch somewhere. The evening can be spent eating babecued food and drinking beer - what more do you want? Cost is £12 Sat or £22 all weekend.

If you think this is a good idea then Kev Melling and myself would look at organising it. To be honest, all it needs is a route planned and find somewhere where we can stop for lunch. I can do that as I grew up it the area.

So, thoughts gentlemen, please.

thinks that would be a great idea for a rally /get together, nice one nipper and chris,, the sights and sounds of the drag is excellent, to put a new twist on a rally is only the best of ideas...all for it, for one, .. :) :)
why do the Yanks rip us off with post costs ??

good idea but four UK rallies a year add the others outside Uk begin to be too much (at least to do all) 8)

Good on yer Chris for standing up and proposing this idea 8-) , which has you say was Nippers idea from a year or so back, but it does need to be organised... So I also fully support it!... :D

I know i'm repeating what youve already stated, but absolutely 'Shakey' is a great venue for a rally/get together whether your interested in drag racing or not... Its central to just about everyone on the UK mainland... Excellent camping facilities... Proper bar/clubhouse... You can make as much noise as you want... Beautiful area of the country to take a ride out in (a proper route would be organised), and dont forget Stratford upon Avon just up the road if you fancy a bit of culture!... Plus you can have a go at thrashing your bike up and down the strip all day/weekend long (with lots of fellow club members/tools around to assist)... Cant think of any reason it wouldnt be supported?...

The only problem would be finding a suitable date, as we obviously want to avoid being too close to the other three UK rallies... So the possible dates from Shakeys calendar would be:

May 15th/16th (the weekend straight after the NW Rally)
June 12th/13th (three weeks before the Northern Rally)
July 24th/25th (three weeks after the Northern Rally)...

So common chaps...lets have some more support/feedback please, especially from the non dragging fraternity?, and also regarding possible dates??...

Kev / Chris. I am well up for that. Just to make clear on the dates. Would this be our own weekend or would it be a rally at a Shakey Meet????

Countryside around that area is nice, would be a great ride out from there. Well done lads. 8)

Mal,

the idea is for it to just be an informal meeting where you can go for a ride and/or watch or race your bike. Evening will be beer & silly chatter.

Thanks for the support Rog 8) Im sure theres a whole bunch of you Northerners/Northwesterners that might want to come along eh? :D

Anyway, you can never find a date for these events which suits everyone, but lets put a stake in the ground for now and say the weekend of July 24th/25th then... Chris and I will discuss it with the Shakey guys this weekend...

Thanks again... Kev
