CHECK YOUR SPOKES

HAD A BIT OF A SURPRISE TO FIND MY H2C HAD THREE BROKEN SPOKES & QUITE A FEW LOOSE. LUCKY I HAD DECIDED TO CLEAN HUB & DISCOVERED. THIS WAS CLOSE TO A NASTY EXPERIANCE.

That's why they were called the widowmaker nothing to do with performance or handling just a few dodgy spokes

Hmmmm...... where did the spokes brake ? Top or bottom end ? Were the broken spokes next to each other,opposite or random ?
Has the wheel in question been rebuild at any stage or cleaned with 'stuff' we should not have used ?

Sam thank you for this post. This could be a potential killer. Finding the solution to what happened might save us form injury. Any suggestions to this cause are welcome .

I am always wary of stainless steel spokes,wheel spindles and springs.

The spokes were Stainless ones built into Akront Alloy Rim. All broken at hub. No idea why they broke! All broken inner ones!!!

My H1a broke a spoke last year, it was at the hub and it was an inner
mot man spotted it

Got me spokes today.

Tryed to fit them & ?

Not as easy as it looks.
