Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Post by Posh Pete »

Courtesy of BA (and London Heathrow) I had the pleasure of experiencing the 'live' sequel to 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' between Milan, London & Birmingham.

It covered three nights (four days), six flight cancellations, three aircraft boardings, three hotels, four buses, three taxis, three trains and many hours spent watching and waiting.

Arriving into Birmingham, late afternoon was great, except my car, car keys (with house key attached) were in Heathrow so the epic journey continued on.

With just one change of clothes the hotel room sink, shampoo bottle and hair drier came in very handy at the end of a long day.

The ordeal came to a close in the early hours after traveling all that distance, only to get my car stuck in the driveway just 50m from home.

Hom sweet home and almost ready for Christmas.

Having a long drive is also great for running bikes up and down to get then sorted. Not in the snow though.

I got almost all the way home, only 10 yards left (no, not on the drive), when I slid off the road and demolished a lampost and my Mondeo.

Still, on the bright side, if it wasnt for the lampost, the neighbours brand new Porche was next in line!!!

Bright next morning, I looked out to survey the damage to the street but the lampost was gone! No trace. The council came round and removed it at 4am, around 6 hours after I trashed it! I hadnt even reported it at that point.

Unfortunately the rearranged mondeo was still sat on the drive!
