Friends...

Post by h2chris »

I've said it before and I'll say it again - what some great guys there are in this club.

A few weeks back I received in the post a rather large parcel. Inside were two nicely wrapped, hard backed books all about Land Speed records and also a superbly copied DVD all about landspeed attempts & drag racing. Included also was a really nice Christmas Card wishing me well. The sender of this lovely parcel was my buddy Steve Hamilton. Not the first time he has done such a thoughtful thing for me, ethier. Thanks Steve. :D

Then last weekend I had a visit from a Mr Roger Ramm. He drove all the way down to darkest Dorset, especially to "babysit" me while Tina had to go away for a few days. Not only did he help with a few jobs for me that I couldn't do, he even cooked me the Mother Of All Steaks - and paid for it all too!! Hmmm hhmmmm....You are a Top Bloke Rog! :D

Then on the Sunday, Mal, Annette & young Jack showed up to collect his motor bits that I'd been hanging on to for ages. They really came down just for a visit and to see how I was doing.

Then today I had my little track Buddy Gary C call me and ask "Did I want a visitor for an hour or so tomorrow to have a chat?" He & Karen were quite happy to drive for almost three hours all the way down here just to cheer me up!

What some great friends I have.

Thanks to all who have sent wishes & cards - they are all very much appreciated.

Chris. :D

'Kin 'Ell, don't let Rog hang around too long, before you know it you will be smoking like a trooper, drinking like a fish, have a hotline to weightwatchers and be pre-booking your heart bypass surgery :P I have to agree . . . we have a top bunch of blokes in the Club (Rog, you did make him an extra large portion of suet pudding didn't ya ? - need to put some weight back on him and slow him down a tad! )

Chris, It was great to come and visit you and Tina . Good to see Rog as well. We had a good run down and spent a great couple of hours with you all.
Can't believe Rosie will "EMPTY" on command. That tickled us.

Get that Old Purple Drag bike sorted and we will see you at Shakey. Make sure you call into our caravan for a cuppa mate.

Talk soon. 8)

PS. Yes we do have a great club made up of great people. :D

Rog may have put a little weight back on since the op but that's no bad thing while he's still recovering. I must say how well he looks now and hope that he continues to look after himself after such a huge shock/warning.

It's so easy to let yourself go and eat crap & drink too much. I should know as I once drank to a level that would cause serious harm and also, up until Nov 2009, I was always hovering around the 15 1/2 to 16st mark! So I was a Mega Drinker and a Fat Ass!

I'm hoping that if I can get off some of my meds I will be able to drink a nice cold beer in a nice pub garden or at the track when the weather gets better. I so miss the odd couple of pints, especially on a summer evening. :D

After not touching a drop of alchohol for at least three years, I think the first pint will blow my head off!!
