Mufflers

Post by Eric »

OK Guys just a thought. Is it or is not getting more financially viable for some clever dick (definately not me ) to look at making mufflers for the triples. Why I ask this , a decent set of mufflers are just about impossible to find ,if you do they will cost a fortune and probably will need re-chroming .If you can get somebody who will it will cost an arm and a leg and if they are not done properly they will knacker them.So any thoughts :?:

I think it was Thomas in Germany who used to manufacture replicas, but I don't think he does any more..but I'm not sure...maybe demand wasn't enough to justify tooling and production costs :smt102

These things are getting more and more popular and parts especially mufflers are a lot more scarcer . Chroming, if you can get it done is getting very expensive, it was just a thought that it may now be worth making repos :?:

Its a good idea, and I think some of the earlier bikes are covered already - but at a price.

Aren't they about 1400 quid a set ?

Maybe it's easier to shove a set of Higgspeeds or similar on for half that sort of money and keep the half decent standards in reserve ?

Think Thomas was waiting to do another run or thats what JP said middle of last year when I started sniffin for Niks h1b? As it stands the Doremi repos at around £1400 probaly match buying a nice s/hand set then getting repairs done and then chroming.......note they have all baffles clamps AND downpipes included. I shall grin and bear it when it comes to getting a set for the 69  Retro Higgspeeds are going to have to suffice on Niks b and my red 70......and very nice they look as well.......good price too 8)
