1972 H2-UK bike-OEJ94K

First registered on the 18th April 1972 at Elwyn Rees Motors, Lampeter, South Wales. This dealer only ever sold the one. (He also sold a '72 S1. That one still exists and still local).

Does this H2 still exist? According to DVLA, date of liability is 1st March 1985.

The reason I ask is that I live nearby and I have just met the original owner today. He lives in Newcastle Emlyn and is in poor health, but his wife was able to give me the registration number. I have tracked down and spoken to the second owner over the phone. He says he has photos of it when he acquired it in the early 1970s. I'm due to meet the 2nd owner next week, so if I am able to copy any of these photos I'll try and put a link to them on here.

Meanwhile if anyone out there has any knowledge on this machine....

Hi Lawence, not often we hear from you round these parts.

If no one on here has it in their garage you can ask the DVLA for a list of the registered keepers (for a fee).

You might be able to trace it's whereabouts by tracing the previous owners.

Good luck with the search.

Cheers for that Graham. That was something I wasn't aware of. I shall go down that path if the forum request returns a blank.

The original owner was a real madman - wheelies were the norm. He even ended putting it on the back of his boss' wife's VW Beetle while demonstrating the H2's light front end in front of his mates. It is a wonder this H2 survived to 1985.
After the H2 he bought a new '73 Z1 from the same dealer. He was just as wild on that. The front brake became unserviceable and he couldn't get the replacement parts, as was the case then. He just taped it up and kept on riding as per usual, just using the back brake.
He wasn't worried about dress sense either, riding around on his Z1 wearing a pudding basin helmet, which looked comical. His mates pulled his leg about it and he eventually changed to full-face. Mind you, you had to be one of his 'mates' to tell him as he was a big guy (ex bouncer).

Graham...I'm pretty sure the DVLA will only give you details of former registered keepers if you are the current owner of the bike. I say this as a couple of years ago, I applied for the same info when attempting to trace the first bike I owned, but unfortunately they declined and sent my fiver back

I seem to remember there's a section on the form that asks why you want the information...I told them I wanted to know the current owner in the hope that I may be able to buy the bike back...maybe that was just too honest!!
However, if someone knows a way round it, I'd be interested to find out.

Unfortunately unless you are the Law or a Clamper!

You will never get any of the Previous Owners/Present Owners Information due to the Data Protection Act.
Even if you pay through an HPI Check!

Same as Steve though if anybody ever gets a way around this block on Information please let us know as I too have been trying to trace my beloved Suzuki GT380L - HPA911N for many Years

If you own business premises, I believe you can apply to DVLA for the owner details of any vehicles parked on your land without permission for the purposes of issuing them a penalty notice.

You need to register with them to do so in advance (which costs), and then pay a fee for every enquiry.

My old local pub landlord did so as he was pissed off with plebs parking up for the day and vanishing into town. He didn't go the clamping route, he just got details and wrote to tell em he had their details and next time they would be clamped or fined .....it worked very well for him

The problem would come if you applied for owner details and the vehicle had not been registered to a keeper or owned for several years, they would then likely smell a rat.

Damn, but yes, these days it seems they will hand out my vehicle details to just about anyone else with a money making scheme....

Hell, any Joe in the street can text my registration and get a bleeding valuation on my car!! (presumably before they nick it).

Oh Hey, didn't I clamp that actual bike on my driveway last week?
