Festival of 1000 Bikes 2012 update

Further to the information in the December club magazine, I have now been in discussion with the organisers to agree the simplest and most efficient way to organise ourselves for what promises to be another great event. 750 bikes have already entered (many by invitation), so act soon to avoid disappointment because after the end of February, any slots we haven't taken, will be offered to the general public.

So, go to the VMCC website and fill in the 2012 track session application form (using the link below) and follow the instructions regarding where to send it and how to pay. To ensure you are allocated to the club session, please enter the following wording onto the entry form under "Special Requests":- "Please enter me into the Kawasaki Triples Club track session" and also add your membership number. Please also let me know when you've sent in a form so I can check that the collation is happening. If you have already sent in an application form, let me know (via this website or call me (details in magazine)); the organisers are more than happy to re-allocate your session to the club session. If you know of anyone who is interested in taking part, but doesn't use the website, please pass this message on, or tell them to contact me. I will be getting back to those people who have already contacted me direct to make sure they put their form in.

As it is a public event, you will have to pay the same as everyone else but if you are a VMCC member, you get the member's rate. We have been granted permission for up to 50 bikes to run in the same single session on the Saturday, but you can enter more sessions if you wish (and pay!). For those who haven't looked yet, a single (15-minute) track session is £46, but you also get two weekend passes included. We have also been allocated a display space for about 12 to 15 bikes on the Avenue of Bikes; anyone entering for the track session can also put their bike on display and we could even rotate them throughout the weekend, depending on numbers; that said, anyone wanting to display their bike (Volunteers please!), but not enter the track session will get one free weekend pass (other passes can be bought).

Depending on how many takers we get, I will liaise with the organisers regarding a sectioned-off area for camping, so we can all be in one place (if we choose).

Well done Gerald....The track time is a bargain considering that you get weekend passes to the whole event included!!.also bear in mind that further track sessions after the first ones are at a discounted rate..If we can have a designated camping area(i am sure we have enough interest) then this will be a great event for the club and great opportunity to talk some bollocks late into the night!!

Does the ticket cover camping as well, I can't see any reference to it apart from the bit saying spectators can pay at the gate?

Last year you pre-booked the camping along with the spectator ticket, I think it was an extra £15 per pitch - I wonder if that also applies to people paying for the track session(s)

It was a bit chaotic on the gate last year regarding being directed to the various camping areas (high viz nazi's etc.

) so if we want to be together we'll probably need summat to show at the gate.

It would be good if we could all get camping in the same area.

Just had an email back from the VMCC and the track session ticket also covers camping. Given you also get two weekend passes this is a mega bargain...

All we need now is a reserved camping area, but that might come with having a club booking anyway.

Just to say the last time i camped at the festival (3years ago) camping was charged 'per pitch' meaning that the charge was the same for 1 person in a tent, or 20 people in a tent. so folk not goin on track,ie payin for campin, bear that in mind.
ALSO, A QUESTION.--
If camping and admission is included in the track session on the saturday, would we have to pay for camping and also admission for the sunday? (i know the obvious answer is 'yes' but i'm just askin

)

OK all. Great to see the interest, but it might be worth another reading of my post to pick up all the information! My entry has gone in the post today.I am having 2 sessions with my kh400 lash up and one with my H2 in the club session.Its going to be a great weekend. 8-)

Thanks for the updates all; I just want to make sure no-one gets missed off the list for our grouped session, so I'll will be contacting the organisers to run a check towards the end of February. A few more to go before we make 50 though!! If anyone else is thinking about entering for a track session, don't delay, otherwise you might miss out....!

If anybody is thinking about this i would advise booking sooner rather than later.There were initially 1100 places and by the 5th january 450 of these had been taken up.
