Classic Bike Trackdays 2012

Post by StrokerBoy »

I did my first ever trackday last year, at Cadwell on my KR250. Always been put off before by the nutters on full-on race bikes taking it far too seriously. :(

That's exactly why my mate set up Classic Bike Trackdays. Pre-95 bikes only, and you'll be out on track with people with similar abilities and machinery to yourself. You can wobble round in the Novice group (like me, ahem) or you can cane it flat-out in one of the other sessions as you prefer.

There are 3 events this year : Cadwell, Mallory and Donington, using the full circuits each time. Practical Sportsbikes magazine is involved again so there'll be full coverage and potentially spin-off mag features if you turn up on something cool.

You don't need a race replica or proper trackbike, in fact the organisers would much prefer to see a track full of older, aircooled, unfaired road bikes, that's kinda the point. That sort of stuff was sadly lacking last time. There's no lower capacity limit, be great to see some KH250's out there ! 8-) Sessions will probably be split into 2-strokes, 4-strokes and Novice like last time.

If you're tempted, you do need to commit and make a booking as early as you can. Cadwell was sold out last year, but Teesside was cancelled as there were not enough advance bookings. In order for the organisers to split the riders/bikes into appropriate groups, they need to know who's coming and what they're planning to ride. Don't leave it until a couple of weeks before. Cadwell is first on 27th April.

If you don't fancy actually taking part, it's still a great day out. Free spectating and plenty of cool bikes just parked up for a look and a chat.

Dates, prices and full details HERE. Any further questions, contact the organisers by email or phone.

Oh, and here's the video from last time : YouTube Link
4x KR250 Tandem-Twin, a KS-II (and a couple of S*zuki's, sorry)
