At the recent Scottish Show we received a number of enquiries from people who clearly hadn't realised that we were representing the Kawasaki Triple Club, in itself this is no problem and in some ways to be expected.

But it occurs to me that we could be missing a trick, in that we could, with more up to date promotional signage, attract more people to our stand, which obviously has a number of benefits.

Maybe we could use banners such as these,

which are now very popular and very effective, I haven't explored costs as I don't want to tread on anyones toes, but these items are very easy to erect and dismantle, plus they work indoors and outside.

Surely the could the club afford to purchase, say two sets, one for the North and another for the South, which could then be easily transported to the events that we attend, this way it would save one person having to go out of their way to collect and return them to where they are kept.

Just a thought

Thanks Roger for your diplomacy!

It might surprise some people that, as Events Secretary, I have already investigated roller banners for use at shows

and have plans to purchase some once the associated artwork has been generated

. The recent Scottish Show had display sheets for each bike bearing the club logo, so, together with the actual bikes and regalia on sale, the fact it was the Kawasaki Triples Club should have been fairly obvious

, but a sign or banner would have helped

. I couldn't provide a banner to Tartan, as the club banner used at previous shows has long since gone into hiding

, so if anyone knows where it is, or who has it, please let me know. I had plans to get at least two new ones, mainly for shows such as the Scottish and Cardiff Shows, but was focussing on Stafford in October as the main event and hence where to spend the money

. In the meantime, we had made use of high quality posters which, until last October's Stafford Show had helped us to two well-earned awards for the club stand and the excellent bikes which were on it

I hope this gives people some confidence that I take my role seriously and do what I can in the time I have available :!:

And Gerald, don't take it so personally, I wasn't having a 'pop' at you... but the flag banners are a good idea and easily/readily available....... the bike cards aren't generally looked at by show visitors although they are nice..I kept mine

No worries Roger and thanks for the suggestion. I am reminded, however, that even with a stand full of triples, display cards and a club banner or posters, people still ask what stand it is!!! I've had to answer many a question about Zeds and even Hondas!! All part of the fun!

I only made my suggestion based on my observations at the recent Scottish and past shows, and on the back of my many years of experience gained whilst working for VAG (UK) Ltd, during which time I was, on numerous occasions, stand manager at both National and Regional Motor shows.

I would hate for you to think I made a casual one off comment highlighting inadequacies, or that I aimed to undermine your function within the KTC. In fact my intention was that the KTC, as an association, might enjoy further benefits.....as far as I'm concerned, it's all about the club, and the forum is a great medium to gain some opinion from the 'wider audience'.

And, yes, answering questions about other products/manufactureres, is all part of what stand 'staff' should expect in that type of environment, as I know all too well

Hey Roger, you shouldn't have told me of your background; I'll be looking to recruit you as a "helper"!

I get everything you say, except I would argue there's a difference setting up and manning a stand as volunteers as opposed to be being paid to do it as part of a job. Also, what I should have said earlier was, from my perspective, there's no need to bother chasing up the flags as opposed to "don't bother"! I will look at these as well as the roller banners and maybe get some of each, especially as I do need to consider outdoors as well (Mallory for example) and those flags are supposed to cope (with a suitable base or anchoring system).

The times "customers" have walked up to me on RB's stands with Kawasaki parts all over the tables (tanks side panels etc ) "have you got a fuel tap for a Honda c90?" NO YOU T*%T its all Kawasaki stock!!!!!!!!!!!!
stupid blind or both who knows, anything you can do to shout it out can help

The best one was when the club did the 70's bike shop with 70's prices on the bikes at Donington and one bloke tried to buy a £6000 bike with £750 ish on the display price, and wanted to knock the price to £700
