1970 Kawasaki H1

Well, she arrived in the wee hours of this morning - registered 20.08.1970 showing 7K kilometres.
Will get some better pictures later.

Looks like the clip ons may have been there from new

Please look in the wanted section as I need a few bits please.

Seems like there have been different km/h speedos

both my 70 and 71 H1 looks like this

Just in case..... that oil tank cap is not vented and neither is the oil tank. You should have a black vented cap to the early tank. The aluminium cap came with the vented tank in 72.

Has plenty of compression and is on 0.5 o/s - all gears engage.

euro spec so will have points

NOTE there are 2 specs for H1 points models, do not try to set it to H1B spec, it will run like S*it, Euro H1 points settings are in the gen kawa manual,

don't knock points till you have tried them, set up well they are no hassle

you have KH400 cover for your points not h1 one & as you prob can tell your rare euro spec rear mudguard has been cut as well

don;t forget to give RB the engine and frame numbers

Rick has a data base of kawasaki engine and frame numbers from around the world

as for the cover, this saves me taking a picture

yes

rear pegs are S2 or H1B

sprocket cover has a hole in it near the exit for the genny wires, early covers did not have this

clip ons, no front mudgaurd

inserts in the rear shocks are black originals have grey

on top steering damper in the headstock !!

you have bought a 42 yr old bike that has a lot of hard to find parts on it

low oil pump cover
steering damper (side one)
clutch and brake brackets
short control cables (all American models have high bars and therefore longer cables)

you have a very good project there

I would say you could get good money for the KPH speedo on ebay if you are willing to ship to Europe, as all the bikes from America have MPH speedo's

Occasionally you can find cheap speedo's on American ebay, just make sure the trip is present

the speedo is A1 A7 should go to 24 X 1O KPH

i think my race bike has an early ignition cover on it. if yours fits mine ,then you can have it.

Hey John don't be tempted to get that top yoke over polished......that one looks in good order and you will lose that peened finish with cast marks look. Just strip off laquer and gently clean
