Whats a S3 worth
Hi,
Thinking of buying this bike that was on ebay and just wondering what sort of money it would be worth?
The bike looks okay - sorry but i have got a photo on the computor but dont know how to get on here
Here is a description of it -
1975 S3 400 Kawasaki 2 stroke triple
This is a US import which had been part restored when I bought it. The paintwork has been resprayed and is a close match to the original candy red and the chrome work is in good condition for the year.
New parts
Battery
Plugs
caps
Indicators
Seat cover and trims sourced and fitted
Brake shoes
Air filter
Inlet rubbers
Spare plug holder
Exhausts are in good condition with a slight dent by the footrest and a small crease on the left pipe which i have tried to show in the pics although it hardly shows.Slight scrape to the front mudguard the kick start and rear shock on one side has a bit if chrome flaking.Wheels and spokes in good condition and under the seat is like new.
I have been brutally honest about the minor flaws on this 37 year old bike which only requires a bit of TLC to bring it to A1 condition. It starts normally on 1st or 2nd kick and smokes like it should all electrics work and the brakes have been bleed and new shoes fitted.
Regards,
Ivor

It looks to be worth about what it has gone for. £2850. The Guy bought it for £2250 and has put about £300+ of parts on it and some work, so he's not exactly Mr Greedy
If the motor is all right , it looks a nice bike. The paint job isn't the best, but American ones rarely are.
I would think that you would need to spend a bit more to get a better one and this looks to be pretty much correct and not butchered. Only obvious thing I can see is that the speedo has an H1D face, which doesn't matter, except to Anoraks. The rest looks pretty good
If you are looking for an S3 in that price range you could do a lot worse providing the numbers etc are clean

What is it with you SouthernersBig Cup wrote:
How do you know he brought it for £2250 ?
Surely the previous owner "BOUGHT" the bike and not "BROUGHT" it
Not having a go at you Big Cup and who am I to tell anyone how to talk proper, but I see this mistake regularly but only by people South of Watford Gap

Whenever you buy a bike from someone who "adds value" have a look at their feedback and very often you can see the purchase taking place earlier in the year
It's not about trying to "nick it", it's about getting a feel for what the bike has been worth and is worth now. Anyway, it's an ebay Auction so the price is non-negotiable.
It's a reasonable buy at that :smt023
