I acquired this a few months ago but haven't really got around to doing much apart from sorting through what's there, what isn't and making lists of jobs to do and parts to find.
Finally made a concerted effort to get it under way yesterday and the frame and all the painted parts should be ready to go to the powder coater later in the week, after I get the frame repairs done.
I know I like a challenge but I can't help but wonder if this is going a bit far.
I'll try and keep this updated as it progresses but don't expect too much too soon.
Well things have progressed a little. The frame and all the associated parts have been away to Romax in Stockton-on-Tees to be powder coated black. Turn around in 3 days, which is about normal for them. Excellent quality again and really friendly to deal with.
Spent a few hours this afternoon putting some of the parts back together. Swinging arm in, centre stand and side stand on, top and bottom yokes in and air box in place. One shock stripped, cleaned, polished, rebuilt and fitted. Starting to look a bit more like a bike than it did.
After dealing with bikes all day . . every day . . . I have to commend you for the tidy "workshop" - but I am more curious as to what the medals are behind the gas tank

The build has moved on a bit since we picked up the H1 though.

Yes, it's amazing what an injection of cash can make to the progress of a project.
You managed to make room in the garage yet? or is 1 still sleeping outside?

Its also amazing how plans go out the window once you have parted with funds
The H1 has been under cover since it arrived, no way would I have been allowed (or wanted) to leave it outside. If you remember those little letter puzzles with a square missing that is what it is like at the moment getting a bike out.
I keep putting of deciding which bike will go as they all get a reprieve after 'one last run'. I really need to part with two bikes to get things back to a sane level.
Any chance of a few build photos for the H1, Jackie has been nagging me to find out?
Well it's been a couple of months since the last update and things have gone a bit quiet but I've got my finger out over the past week and had a good afternoon at it today so I thought I'd share the progress.
The S2 workshop has become a bit cluttered today after collecting the 2014 project frame and bits and pieces from the powder coaters this morning. Engine on the bench ready for the rebored barells to be fitted.
New pistons fitted and barells on. Even remembered to fit the base gaskets this time. Frame protected ready for engine install.
Big thanks to Phil for a fantastic job on the paintset, especially considering what I handed him and also to Chris Todd for collecting it from the Southern Rally and bringing it back up North.
I have to say I'm over the moon with the look of the bike but really need to get the front wheel done.
Well the months have flown by and the S2 progress has been rather slow. Got the front end rebuilt but wasn't happy with the forks so decided to have a spare set of sliders re-hard chromed by Philpotts and the fork bottoms re-chromed by Quality Chrome in Hull.
Here are all the fork parts ready for re-assembly.
The forks in this photo are still the ones I'm not happy with, they look ok in the photo. Put the exhausts on to see how the bike looks almost complete but they need to come off, be repaired and re-chromed.
It's nearly there, a few more parts to acquire and hopefully ready for spring.
