Classic Bike Trackdays 2013

Post by StrokerBoy »

Trackdays aimed specifically at older (ie. cooler) bikes, and riders who can't be arsed with all the superheroes on BSB-spec R1's taking it far too seriously.

Dates for this year :

Mallory Park : Fri 12th April

Spa Bikers Classic : 5-7th July

Cadwell : Practical Sportsbikes magazine trackday : Sat 3rd August
Cadwell : Classic Bike magazine 'Burn Up' : Sun 4th August

Brands Hatch : TBD (autumn)

The Cadwell weekender should be ace. You can ride on both days if you want, and on the Saturday night there'll be bands playing in the clubhouse and BBQ's in the paddock. On-site camping is available and indeed encouraged. Staff from both mags will be roaming the paddock looking for interesting bikes to feature.

All events (except Spa) have free spectating and it'd be great to see a load of old strokers cluttering up the paddock whether you're riding on track or not.

Oh yeah, the 2-strokes all go out together in one group. Not gonna let the Kettle mob have it all to themselves are you ?

Details (including how to book) on the Classic Bike Trackdays site.

Saturday week, 4th May Cadwell Park SATT 2 stroke only trackday, I'm taking the RGV500 and the H1R rep, not been before but it's supposed to be a really good day. I think they are allowing period 400cc 4 strokes as well like NC30's, zxr400 etc but not your usual trackday which I would'nt go anywhere near, usually full of wanabee Rossi knobs on their R1's with an eggcup of talent to go with a gallon of ambition

Still places left http://www.clubmsv.co.uk/car-home/event ... n=satt2013

The organisers are keen to make the Cadwell Weekend (3/4th Aug) into a bit of a party. It's the Practical Sportsbikes magazine trackday on the Saturday and the Classic Bike Burn Up on the Sunday. Naturally all triples are eligible both days. Trackday places still available and first-timers are particularly encouraged.

On the Saturday night, there'll be bands playing in the clubhouse and BBQ's firing up in the paddock. Spectating is free, onsite camping is only a fiver and the hope is that the various bike clubs (whether they're riding on track or not) will turn up, set up camp, crack open a beer and help create a party atmosphere on Sat night.

The magazines will be there both days so you can use it to help plug your club. Have a mini club rally, park some cool bikes up under the KTC flag and chill out. Wake up with a cider hangover on Sunday morning just as some old bloke with an unsilenced Black Shadow warms it up six feet from your tent.

Any questions, contact http://www.classicbiketrackdays.com/

Oh, and warm sunny weather guaranteed.

Who's going to this then ? Less than a fortnight to go. The track sessions on the Saturday are fully booked up now, but there are still some places left on the Sunday. Phone the organisers ASAP if you fancy it.

For those who don't want to take it that seriously, there'll be parade laps at lunchtime both days. Bit more sedate, but you'll still get a couple of laps of the full circuit and a chance to show your bike off. Book in advance - it's FREE ! - or just arrange it on the day but you will have to wear proper riding kit. Any bike welcome as long as it'll do at least 40mph. That might not be a problem for you lot but I'm planning to do it on something particularly unsuitable... :?

Or just wander round the paddock chatting to mates and admiring the bikes. Camping available Fri and Sat nights, and plenty have already packed the BBQ and beers in anticipation. The bar will be open and the band will be playing.
