Hartside Sunday Morning

Post by Malcolm »

If any of the North East or North West team fancy a run in the morning I'm heading up to Hartside.
I'll be at the Brocksbushes Coffee shop for about 9am and then up to Hartside for about 10:30 ish

Post here or the KH Forum if you are coming or text me :D :D :D

A good day definitely, we started with coffee at Brocksbushes, where I met Chris and we then rode on up through Alston to Hartside.
As the North West team weren't there we waited ten minutes and then rode down towards Penrith to meet them on their way up to the summit. Our tracks crossed in Melmerby and we turned around and headed back up to the Hartside Summit Cafe. Pie peas, chips and gravy were needed at the top because as ever the weather on the top was grizzly
Here are the team at the top

It really was pointless to waste a beautiful sunny day in the only place in the area where it was cloudy and cold, so we decided to ride down to the west side in search of better weather.
At Penrith we refueled in glorious sunshine and made the decision to take a run down the A6 at least as far as Kendal and probably then on to Devils Bridge :D :D :D

Coffee was of course required on a regular basis as are rest stops

Following this coffee stop we set of again down the A6 with Higgsy setting his usual brisk pace

We got over the top of Shap and just as we began the descent Adrian's bike went bang.
Chris stayed with and I went on to let Simon and Dave know.

After a wait to see if it was a temporary problem we rode back up to find them at the side of the road with a terminal seizure :(

As you can see he was getting a lot of assistance from the whole team.

At least the bikes looked nice parked up on the mountain :D

Anyway drama over we headed for home Chris and I fueled up in Kendal before making the run home through Tebay, Brough etc.
Another very good day's motorbiking in this excellent biking summer and another 230 mile day :D :D :D
