N.E/N.W. First Run Out of the Season

Post by Malcolm »

As these things always take a couple of tries to organise at this time of year I thought I'd give plenty of notice

The plan is to ride up to Hartside as usual to join together the North East and North West teams 8)

Any bike will do but a Triple is first choice followed by any two stroke then any classic and after that , just turn up on a bike :D

Provisional date is Sunday 6th of April with a fallback date of the following Sunday 13th if the weather Gods are against us

Who's interested?

Yes it's still on. This Sunday 6th April 8)

Plan from the North East Side is as usual to meet at Brocksbushes Farm coffee shop at 10 am then weather permitting head on up the hill to Hartside aiming to get there about 11.30
I'll send a text out to the N.E. People tomorrow but could anyone planning to come put a post on here as well as answering the text please :D

I've been preparing tonight, poor old Cinderella that has sat in the corner whilst the Rust Monster was built has been on the ramp getting new plugs, oil; change, chain tension etc and a small rub a dub in readiness for MOT later this week and the first run of the year.

The weather turned out to okay this morning so Colin Carter, Chris Todd and I met at Brocksbushes for tea and buns :D :D :D

The only triple present I'm afraid was Colin's Triumph Tiger Explorer
Chris turned out on his XJR Yamaha and I took the Z1B. We set off for Hartside but as we got to Alston we hit rain so both bikes being made of papier mache we turned back and a couple of miles back retuned to the sun :D :D :D

An 80 mile trip so not exactly the round Britain Rally, but it felt great to get the bikes out after the winter

NW members meet at Broughton layby 10.00am. Bear in mind this is a 200 mile run and will include some motorway riding.

Well it certainly blew the cobwebs away!

It was freezing cold and blowing hard on the top of Hartside. It was worth it though a good run in the sunshine in the valley below the hill and good crack with the N.W. boys at the summit cafe :D

I only took a couple of pics as it really was cold out in the wind

The H2B is Bill Bristows, bbb on the forum.
Bills had it about 3/4/5 years and had just rebuilt it with new crank, rebore etc.
This was its 191 mile first "shakedown/running in outing"
He just picked up my 1966 W1 engine tonight to rebuild it Thumbs Up
