I just ran out of time . . .

Post by El Presidente »

It REALLY wasn't the brightest idea to suggest that I could find stuff on here in a week, nor to put a similar post on Ebay  The "entrepreneur" Mr Anderson has been down and blagged a LOT of stuff, actually a L O T of stuff that was even heading for the tip  (That is how near the knuckle things have got given the timescale involved) - we could have saved a lot more stuff if we hadn't spent a couple of hours going through many hundreds of hard copy Rally photos - It's been a long and somewhat sombre day but highlighted by going through old membership books (AMAZING how 20 Years later we all come back "to the fold") and all the old newsletters Etc . . . What a FANTASTIC 30+ Years it has been since I started the Club Thumbs Up

I'll second that Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
Just indebted to you starting it all off Rick, as I know a lot of others are too. Umm, you proposed it as an H2 club in your kick off ad in MCN I recall.

Yet another Great Day, and SOOOOO many of my close friends have come about through "just" joining the KAWASAKI TRIPLES CLUB, in my case 25 years ago (1989)
If there was a surprise/shock it was................... There was a time when we all had hair!
Incuding EL PRESIDENTE!!!
What he didnt see was me taking a copy of those pictures of Rick on my iphone
Watch this space, BUT, maybe not!!
There was SOOOO many pictures there that MANY of you, ERM, including me   :will have forgotten about!! :D :D
I have taken away a lot of Ricks second hand stock, and have actually been doing it for the last 18months.
We have come to an "agreement" over it and If you need parts dont mither Rick ,mither me.
Eventually/long term, all the stock will be here  Thumbs Up
And ,I might add ,we only had a bottle of beer each, (with the barbecue/ burgers /sausages Rick provided :D )But nice it was too!!
Good to see Hal there tooo Thumbs Up
BUT, I now have all the original paper work for who really has been in the club since day one!
If you dont wont your cover blown, its Guinness at the rally next week :D :D :D
AS FOR RICK???
WHAT a great mate he has been, and to soooo many people, within this close knit club.
He could never have even imagined what he would create in terms of friendship among lots of people from all areas of life
:D :D :D :D

Only made it to a couple of rallies and met Rick a few times, but echo all that has been said about him and the club. Time to relax and enjoy life a bit more Rick. Thumbs Up

Rick
I do hope that you'll keep a triple or 3 and that we'll see you at the odd rally.
Whatever you plan to do, THE BEST OF LUCK !

Thanks Steve! Don't worry, if I live long enough I will still be a familiar face at many rallies  I need to slow down a little, moving house, moving spares, moving workshop, a container of 40 bikes arriving, NOVAs to do, a Rally to organise 40 bikes to dispose of . . ALL in the last 10 days before I head to the States! I quite literally did a 19 hour day yesterday which included 260 miles of driving, a 17 hour day today with 440 miles of driving . . . I need to slow my life down a tad Thumbs Up

Rick, I hope this won't be the last that we see of you,

Even though my period of Triple involvement doesn't span as many years as yours (and others) I would add that I too have had many terrific memorable times at rallies etc., and have made what I consider to be very, very good friends.

It was good to chat with you on a couple of occasions this last week and I hope that we can keep in touch, I know we will

Remember what I said..."slow down and take it easy mate" Thumbs Up

El Presidente, my sincere best wishes for whatever you decide to do mate. But whatever you do and wherever you go, you will always be our El Presidente :D It is not a transferable title or post. Good luck RB.
if you wish to quote me, that's fine. But please use the quote button provided, not a variation of my words.

All the best for the future Rick.
This old hippy won't forget the inaugural first 'meet' of triples in '82 prior to the rallies. You organised a meet at the Pod. I pulled off the M1 and spotted a H2 in a layby and pulled in.
ME: 'Nice bike mate, I'm on my way to the H2 meet, I'm looking forward to meeting Rick'
YOU: 'You've met him !
:)

I was there too - on my Avenger. Dave Grist I recall on a Z400 twin (the shame) but I would be fibbing to say who else I remember for sure being there. It must have been fairly late in the year as I'd met RB for my first time at the 2nd Dutch Rally earlier that Summer. I could check it againts my records as I got nabbed for speeding & crossing a double white line the day before near Banbury - by quite some miracle that is my last motoring offence....errr.....umm, that I've been caught for that is  .

It's all so bloomin long ago now Dave, isn't it, though sometimes it feels like only the day before yesterday. There are so many good friends I have made through this club you pulled together Rick. Cheers for everything.
