Re: Nova
Just rang the NOVA helpline to see how my application is coming along. They received my form on the 16 July. Not good news, they are currently working on the forms received on 26 June, so it looks like I've still another 20 days to wait. Mind you, they did say they were getting in 4 extra staff to help out so it may be sooner.

Re: Nova
Oh just wind me up why don't you
So, before I left I sent a H1 registration off to the DVLA, it was for a bike that a guy was going to ride to a show at the beginning of August, hence, everything had to be spot on as I wasn't going to be around to sort out any problems, I was confident, i'd crossed all the T's and dotted all the I's!
I caught my flight happy that all was in order . . . . . Imagine my dismay when I get a message that the useless bunch of idiots . . . . sorry, did I say idiots? I meant total and utter FUCKWITS! Had returned my application and all my paperwork with a letter telling me that I had to contact the HMRC and get a NOVA number . . . . . . . . Which would be the letter that they had also stamped and returned from the HMRC with a NOVA number CLEARLY emblazoned on the header stating that the HMRC were happy that the VAT had been paid and I could now apply to the DVLA for a registration document . . . Fucking total and utter bunch of useless paper shuffling jobsworths WANKERS!

Re: Nova
Just rang NOVA again to see how far they have got in a week. The extra staff are now in and they are working on forms received on 15 July, so they have caught up with the paperwork somewhat since last week. I should get a letter within a few days I have been told. I bloody well hope so !!!

Re: Nova
I think it's more a case of how many have been imported and people are now panicking, you think there could be5/6 yrs worth of bikes/cars all trying to get registered with nova because you don't want to finish your restoration and find you can't register the thingHal wrote:Jesus, just how many vehicles are getting imported then!! Re: Nova
Letter arrives in brown envelope today from the DVLA. This is it I'm thinking, I'm going to be able to actually ride the bike. No.
The dating certificate I got with the bike from John Wyatt of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club dated December 2010 is not good enough anymore, so no log book. Have decided to pay the first years tax and apply for historic vehicle status later or I'll never get to ride it this year.
From DVLA
"Dating certificates provided by vehicle owners clubs must contain the date/year that the vehicle was manufactured and must provide details of the source material that was used to determine the date of manufacture. They must also include an explanation of how the source material was linked to this particular vehicle (e.g. either by inspection or photographs and rubbings). Dating certificates must be originals, written in English on letter headed paper and must state the date of issue, the vehicle VIN number or chassis number and the vehicles make and model".
Rick, if you read this how do I go about getting one off of you?

Re: Nova
I had the same problem with a dating letter from the VJMC. Geoff Ward didn't clearly state that he had seen detailed photos of my A7 Avenger (even though I included these with my application to the DVLA). Geoff just reworded the letter and they only took a couple of days to do the business
It seems the rules are being changed on the fly.

Re: Nova
So, about 3 months of buggering around .
Less than 10years ago you could walk in to the local DVLA office and have it done while you waited. 20 minsutes or so. Ans there was no fee involved.
After all it`s a public service, paid for out of general taxation ...............................................
.another wonderful change achieved during Blair`s wonder years .

Re: Nova
To put the other side of this story, two years ago I bought a bike from a guy who had bought it from the importer.
I sent off the Importers C&E 389, the american title and the receipt from the guy that I bought it from along with a covering letter outlining the above story as well as a NOVA1 form.
That was on the 3rd September this year and on the 17th September I got the NOVA number back saying that I am good to go to get the bike registered. Doesn't seem too bad

Re: Nova
my experience with NOVA
in 2011 I bought a H1A off ebay with no paperwork
I thought I'd have a go at getting it on the NOVA scream, went on-line and found you couldn't put UK on as a country of origin
So I emailed the technical helpline, I attached my original invoice, the address of the person I bought the bike off and pictures of the engine and frame number & my Goverment gateway number
The same day they replied saying you should be able to fill the form in on-line just select any EU country any also attached a copy of the paper Nova Application
So I duly filled the on-line form in and 1hour later I had a NOVA number
to say I was a bit shocked was an understatement
