If connectors are connected you can make continuity check between ignition coil and points wires.

Nothing connected up yet . So I’ll need to check from the connector . Need to find my multi tester first

The loom connector has the colours, easy to work out stator wire colours from that.

Hi Tim, I just got my multimeter back from my son so I will crack on tomorrow .
Going to start laying the loom in place. Luckily got a new old stock warning light loom coming too as my bulb holders were completely rusted away.

Ok so I checked the coil wires and sorted out which ones which.
But now I see that my generator has one wire not connected. Anyone know what I can do or do I need generator rewinding?
I did send my old one to Alan but as I didn’t want contact breakers he only does complete job. Perhaps I need it back from him now…..

I’ve looked closer and is it possible the sleeving just covers up some wires connected together ???

So I’ve spoken to Alan , the generator man and he says it looks as it should so onwards and upwards …..
Should get the generator back on and the wiring loom in place this weekend. Newly painted coils back on.

So moving on …. Tried to superglue the oil tank tab but it wouldn’t adhere. So I heated up 2 washers and melted them into the plastic . Seems to have worked- not pretty but it works.

So I have this piece of loom and I can’t see what it is or where it goes. But embarrassing but I’ve no photos of it in my strip down set….

Indicator mounting ????

Oh I can see it now….. I’ll double check in the morning. I got new indicators and wiring so old ones are in the box with other unusable bits….

I checked the coils and they seem ok so they’ve gone back on today . Resprayed black and blued the brackets so they’ll not rust anymore.
Altering loom tomorrow to fit accent ignition and the combined regulator/rectifier.

Skipping about a bit now depending on what bits I have delivered and how I feel…
Removed broken brake shoes from drum. I didn’t think I’d get them off but a couple of days in 25% acid vinegar and then much heat and physical force and they came off .
Same for the cam piece.

Cant beat a bit of heat on those seized parts

So many tricks I’ve learnt doing this bike.
Caustic soda, hydrochloric acid , vinegar with salt … and then a good dollop of real heat ….

So just sent a request to Willis wheels for 2 new rims and 2 spoke sets, all in stainless. I’ll build the wheels myself after I’ve cleaned up the hubs and backplates. Ordered new bearings and seals as well.
Backplates especially are a bit battered but plenty of elbow grease should bring them up ok.

Just received the swing arm caps. I am presuming the cutout but goes at the bottom ??

Cutout goes along the arm of the swingarm..

Ok so swing arm caps and o rings in place now .
Was quite a job single handed as I didn’t think the swing arm assy would go in with the caps on at first. Bit of hide mallet and one blackened finger nail and it’s in. It was hard to align the pivot hole with it being so tight, but now it’s in it moves nicely with no side play at all.
