I am prepared to take on Events Secretary - not just Stafford 2017. Does the committee have to make a final decision on this?
If Kenny and Sandra are happy to help me then that would be more than OK. In fact I will probably need the support and would value your experience. I will be at Stafford Sunday afternoon so we could talk face to face then. Doing it as a jobshare could work if co-ordinated properly.
Malc, thank you for your apology, we all make mistakes from time to time. No need to resign

With electronic communications it is especialy easy for people to misunderstand one another. Who said computers made things easy?
Once it is settled then a handover from Gerald and Malc W would be useful.

Thats that sorted then,Nick is the new events secretary after Stafford 2016 which Mal and Rog are sorting
Nick, can you PM me your full details inc full name, address tel numbers and email so we can get you set up on the commitee
This will give you access to the pages at the bottom of the forum.
Thanks for stepping up to the Helm Nick and I know youre going to do a great job.
A big THANKS has to be given also to Rog who has offered to tow the trailer with all the clubs gear to stafford AND finally taking the bull by the horns in sorting this problem which appeared to be the main issue in anyone taking the position.
Storing it at Farmer Johns was a great idea and Thanks to Farmer John for allowing us to do it.
This is all a major problem now sorted so lets give Nick as much support as we can.

malc87 wrote:I was off the opinion that Kenny and Sandra are prepared to take the post on long term (I could be wrong!) which is what we were originally after, someone to commit for more than one year.
Rogers idea as an alternative is excellent

and if thats what the membership wants to do thats fine
I personally would prefer someone to commit to it for a longer period.
If using a different person each year is what the club members feel is the best way forward then I will back it fully and yes if this is the case Nick has offered first for 2017.
At least we are at last moving forward in the events position. BIG thanks to Mal and Rog for all there efforts so far

I think a new face every year is a a very good idea,

Thumbs Upfresh thoughts and ideas

As former custodian of the carpet tiles for several years and the flack I got from Gerald, just because I couldn't get them there early afternoon (unless I took a day off work and hired a van for an additional day) I became somewhat demotivated with the whole thing, although I would always offer to show a bike.

The club has been after an events secretary to replace Gerald for almost 2 years and 3 months since Gerald first gave notice he would quit. The post has been advertised in the magazine and at the AGM with no takers.
Nick offered first to take up the post and Kenny and Sandra offered second. Thanks to all three for offering to take over the post .
In one of the posts above Kenny says and I quote "We are happy for Nick to go forward as he offered before we did".
On that basis it has been offered to Nick who has accepted.
I have spoken to Farmer John and Gerald is bringing the club merchandise to Farmers John"s place at a weekend.
Farmer John has offered to take it all to Stafford 2016 and bring it all back to his place for storage.
This will give the club one year (till stafford 2017) to find an alternative place for storage .
It may be that Farmer John will let us continue to store it at his place but this is a matter that needs to be discussed.
Big Thanks to Farmer John.
