Drill a 3mm hole and lockwire it. It's a bugger if it pops out!

Ok that’s a good idea. I’ll do that tomorrow 👍.

The rear exhaust mountings and spacers, are they solid?
You could do with a rubber mounting or the exhaust brackets may crack?

Looks odd to me. The centre exhaust that could possibly clash with the tyre is on the inside of the hanger, so not sure what it's achieving?
A 4" tyre is not that big really.

I bent the inner exhaust hanger but then it touched the outer exhaust so I spaced that one out to give clearance .

Solid mounts on chambers is an invitation for cracks at welds.

I’ve put some rubber washers between the exhaust mounting. Don’t think it looks as nice but hopefully it will reduce vibration damage to the brackets.

I did something similar on my 500, not sure how much good it does though. Maybe stops a few of the high frequency vibes but really you need to isolate the bolt (like the 400 mount), but the mount hole isn't large enough.
My washers were too soft and have cracked, I may try some tap washers next which are a bit thicker and denser.

Fitting new Stat-O-Seal washers to the oil pump.
I notice the oil feed banjo has a larger opening on one side.
I presume this larger opening faces onto the pump?

You presume correct sir, but it also means that your Stato washer might not work at that side.

I just tried the Stato and it looks ok and is covering all the face on the pump side . So going with that. I’ll run the bike and and get hot and check oil supply before I stick the cover back on.

I’ve now fitted some new inlet rubbers. It was just such a palaver trying to get the old ones on before they cooled down and hardened. Still had to slide the carbs out on their manifolds by a few mm to get them to fit properly.

So just waiting on some caliper O rings as I only ordered 1 ( silly me for rushing), and I need the chrome bits back. I am then ready for the big start up ….

Regarding pre mix in the tank for starting up , what ratio is commonly used ? I seem to recall 20:1 ….

3% (or 33:1) of modern two stroke oil semi-synthetic will be enough, you're at 5%.
I currently run near 100:1 on all my triples around 1,20% 1,30 %

Thank you , I’ll go with that . Just need some lube in the fuel until the pump gets it round - hoping that is does of course.
This engine was a wrecked , seized mess when I got it and handed over to Gary.

Hi Phil,

To fill your oil pipes, when you have the bike running on tick over, open the oil pump cam fully by hand to pump the oil into the pipes pushing the air out, as soon as you see the pipes fill/full let the cam go back to cable control. Best to watch pipes as you do this as it will let you know if pump is pumping or not.

Don't be I'm sure she will run, take your time and double check everything while your are waiting for bits to turn up, points, plug gaps, petrol running into carbs and holding without leaks, petrol tap working turning on and off, 2t oil tank filled, air mixture screw set, gearbox/engine oil, electrics all working, a few compression kicks to make sure all is turning as it should. Sorry to be a bit of a mother hen but it's what I do when I've finished a rebuild, then take your time when it's time and enjoy it when she fires.

I bet you have her firing with four good kicks, then a little bit of dialling in and you'll be dancing around the garage in joy (like I do) Thumbs Up

Just heard my chrome bits won’t be ready till end of next week….
I’ve already triple checked everything I can so far…
Only thing I’m a bit concerned about is the throttle cable has very little free play. This means that the cable to the RHS carb is at quite an angle to the top but I’ll see how it goes.

Rebuilt caliper on today and all connected up and bled. All works even the brake light 👍.
I have 1 part I haven’t got yet and that is the knob for the steering damper. I see one in the US but it will work out at £100. Has anyone fixed a know off another bike on to get by?
I have all the friction plates and the centre bar , it’s just the knob that’s missing.
I can run around to fettle it without the damper but any reasonable run and I suspect I’ll need it working.
