Since you fitted Tapers in the front you'll probably need some extra rubbers to remount the Headlight "ears" or they'll rattle up n down.

If you're not using the originals then it doesn't matter.

Hi Craig , I saw that the new tubes from Z Power come with new bottom bushes so was gonna go that route.
Hi Wolfie, I have got new ears from India…. They are ok - not perfect and no good for concours but I’m ok with them. They are chromed as I prefer that look. I think they are slightly longer but I have some rubber o rings I can use as well.

I just looked at the regulator/rectifier fitting and I see I will have to modify the frame mount for the rectifier to fit the combined unit. Is that correct?

Not if you buy the correct taper bearings from a reputable seller!!!!!

Ok yet another question ….. putting the handlebar clamps back on and I found the conical rubbers to go in but when I assemble the bottom of the stud sticks out too far…
I checked in the parts manual and online and they look like the right ones. But i also have some shouldered conical rubbers that would fit and when i go to look at my photos I think I see the shoulders visible. But…. I need new ones of these but I can’t find these shouldered rubbers anywhere for sale … am i going mad…..

This what I did to mine to make it fit, not pretty but it worked.

Don't forget that you also have a plain washer and spring washer to go on there. The idea of the shoulder on the bolt is to stop you overtightening the assembly and preventing the isolating rubbers from doing their job.

Thanks Zytec , I will have a look at what I can do . Just hard butchering the frame straight after powder coating …

Tony, if I put the rubber washers on, the big washer buts up against the shoulder on the bolt well before it’s tightened. So it’s all loose. I need to find out the length of the new rubbers to see if mine are worn but they look ok ….

In the picture of the rubbers. It looks like you have 1 x handlebar damper and 1 x meter damper.
The handlebar rubber (the bigger one) looks bolloxed.

Hi G6Mow , I have 4 of each type.
So you feel the bolloxed one is the handlebar one like I do. But if I check part numbers they only show one without shoulder on.. like the smaller ones…
can’t find the shouldered ones on sale anywhere ….

Ok, I will order some new ones.
Going to put the engine in this weekend when my son pops round to help. Don’t want to try on my own and mess up the frame coating.
By the way does anyone know if you can get new long engine bolts? I have new short ones but not the 3 long ones and the threads a bit cranky on them .

Thanks Rick. Once I plucked up the courage to bend the tabs it all went ok. Forgot to take pic of bent tabs before I fitted the unit. I do need to take off again to fit some rubber spacers to protect from vibration.
