It gets worse. Had a stand at Stafford Bike show this past weekend. Went off to bog for a slash for 2 minutes, got back and I`d just missed James May . He`d been sent over by Dave Orrit of Z1 fame to ask about having a Triples restored, and I missed him !!
( apparently the lads holding fort while I was away were well impressed. The bloke from Top Gear just came aroun and said ! Is Neil about ? " ) I`m bleedin famous me !!

For the record S"`s are my favourites , not H1s. And I DON`T approve of boring out rar 72 cylinders to 350cc !!!!!

Thanks Neil. Any tips on how to get the main stand spring back on without injury?

You load the coils with coins until it's long enough to just plop on, then when you put the stand down, they all fall out..

Brilliant! you even get your money back. So how did the factory do it I wonder. Afterall the Yen was worth next to nothing so their coins must have been tiny.

Probably the same way any sane person would do it.

Hook the spring over it, then use the stand firstly as if its a catapult , then as it`s own lever against the spring coil strength ,to slot it onto the frame.
I can`t explain it any better, so if you don`t follow, stick with the pretty pennies routine !!

Only a Yorkshire man would use coppers and not 50 pence coins and if your really flush two pound coins.

My stand arrived back from Neil's yesterday. Fitted back on today. No coins (skint) so I used the brute force and ignorance method. Perfect. The rear wheel's off the floor. Its easier to get on the stand than the H2 and that's a doddle.
I can recommend Neil's engineering if anybody else has the same problem. In fact I might join the happy throng outside his bedroom window this Sunday at 6.

good news Steve.
sometimes it is enough to fix the problem. Sometimes even straightening the stand isn't enough on its own. As the frame stops can take a hammering too , and then it needs a blob of weld to take up that slack . glad yours was ok.
