Re: speedo/rev counter restoration
I've been contemplating getting the clocks on my H2 serviced as well recently because the needle on the rev counter is so erratic it waves about at least 2000 rpm amount all the time and seems to lag at 3000rpm and never get up to the red line (despite me definitely red lining the engine through the gears to test). I'm presuming this symptomatic with aged internals and can it all be rectified with a service?
If so, could you also PM me Alan's number?
Much appreciated.

These clocks are notorius for waving about, the damping fluid doesn't seem to last 5 minutes. Alan's work is mainly repairs and ace cosmetics and he does replace the damping fluid - a black art subject in itself with people having secret recipesBic_Bicknell wrote:I've been contemplating getting the clocks on my H2 serviced as well recently because the needle on the rev counter is so erratic it waves about at least 2000 rpm amount all the time and seems to lag at 3000rpm and never get up to the red line (despite me definitely red lining the engine through the gears to test). And even though it is the natural thing to do , don't store your newly refreshed clocks upside down before fitting them as the damping fluid will gradually seep out of the "open topped trough" (for the want of a correct description) that it sits in. And you will be back to square one.

I think he is bit of a high output sausage machine, and Alan's had at least two sets that I know of to put right.
