I am near ready to buy my first van. Just rang my insurance company and they said no. Can't mix van and cars and bikes on multi vehicle policy. Have any of you found a company that does this.

Put a small camping stove and a mattress in the back of it. And call it a Camper Van.
You`ll get insured more easily.( And, you`re not really lying !! )

when running motoshuttle,the van trailer and all my bikes were insured on one policy,will go through my old paperwork to see who it was,it was a good price from what i remember

I think if you buy a van with side windows it gets classed as an mpv and not commercial,also i know some ferry companies charge commercial rates for vans but not mpvs,might be worth thinking about

I wouldnt be too worried about multi vehicle policies as in my experience they don't save much

I'm surprised that your existing company wont entertain the van as its going to be used for social domestic and pleasure with no hire, gain or commercial usage

Try & get a car derived van rog ... or you'll be nicked doing 70mph on dual carriageways & windows in the side is a good idea to avoid tolls etc as said above

Thanks for all the replies and tips. Aviva wants 1224 quid for my car and a transit on a multi policy. Mad. I will try some of your tips folks but may just hire.
