Black historical number plates

There is also a place in Manchester that does them quite quickly. Showplates or something .

Jepsons press twice a week on a Tuesday and a Thursday
Have turned up 1st thing on these days and had the plate in my hands at dinner time

I use a company called Framptons, http://www.framptonsplates.com/BikePlates.html

You have to ping over a copy of your V5 and then the plates arrive a couple of days later, think the cost was approx £26 inc postage.

I got their acrylic B&W rear plate for my '74 H2B after I discovered B&W plates are legal on all vehicles taxed as 'historic' and not limited to pre '73 vehicles anymore.

It's not historically accurate though is it ? Traditionally , it was 1972 and earlier . and for years folk with L reg bikes were slipping them on because they preferred the look. Now , I know we've dropped front number plates , and use modern tyres etc etc , but it just doesn't look right for me; putting a black plate on a later model !!!

I go to 2 auto jumbles a month and there is always a chap there making up number plates pressed steel as well but I think you have to order them

I was one of those who changed my bikes in the seventies to reflective plates but now I love the retro look of B&W plates on any H2. Because the 750 H2 was available new in 1972, I think it's okay to use a B&W plate on a later example now but can see why others might disagree...

Hmm. Taking that kind of reasoning to it`s illogical conclusion, you could just stick a black plate on a modern H2R, as it says H2 and Kawasaki on it. And they made those H2 Kawasakis in 1972.

It just occurred to me, that the way that the SPECS cameras get your number (be it day or night, rain or fog) is by the "returned" scan of your number plate ? (NO clue . . just a thought) - Hence the reason that all plates MUST be reflective and of a certain profile . . . who's got a pressed steel, none reflective plate and is up for a race into Nottingham
