H1 Engine and gearbox inspection

I'm going to strip my engine down this week to send my crank to Gary due to the bent crank that the previous owner forgot to mention when he sold me the bike which " had just had the crank rebuilt" I will be checking the usual things but just a heads up is there anything specific to this engine that anyone can think that I should check while I have it in bits or any parts that I should replace as a matter of course I don't mean the obvious like gaskets and circlips. Thanks in advance.

If the guy who sold you the bike is a club member then I think he should band from the club.

Gary can check all usual things. He checked over my gearbox and crank to confirm all in order.

I'm only sending the crank to Gary I will be doing the job myself.

When I took the crank out also as well as been bent the 2 outer mains were gubbed and the cases were rejoined with blue Hylomar a common practice in the eighties I think the main thing that the seller forgot to tell me is that he is a lair. It should cure my ongoing detonation problem now that I can remove the brand new crankshaft oils seals that were just done, might make a difference.

thats a shame,but,unless the bike has come from some one in the club with genuine history,then always expect to strip it down,its amazing what errors you can find,go through the clutch assembly,check all the dogs ,teeth and clearances on the gearbox,selector forks for wear,that the retaining bolts are tight and locked,check the plastic drive gear for missing or broken teeth,tacho drive shaft oil seal,fit copper base gaskets on rebuild,at least now you will know the bike inside out and be able to thrash it without the worry of some one elses work letting go

Cheers for that I was never going to be happy anyway until I had the engine apart and checked it myself I will check these bits when I get home at a glance the dogs looked good and Gary advised me on the refitting of the kick start shaft.
