They'll be the death of me . . .
The Fucking USELESS DVLA and NOVA teams!!!
1, Latest DVLA applications are being refused if there isn't a U.S. title, you will now have to provide PROOF of purchase out of the country, a shipping bill of lading to prove it got here on a ship Etc . . . . Isn't THAT exactly what the NOVA number proves ? ? ?
2, My NOVA applications were put in 2 MONTHS ago, they try to deal with them in 10 days, I got 90% of the numbers back in 5 weeks, but they lost 7 of them so I resubmitted them . . . 3 weeks later I am still waiting despite several letters asking for them.
3, I registered a H1 back in November, I got a letter off the DVLA saying that it wasn't on the MIDAS insurance database in February, so, I put it on SORN, May and I get a £100 fine . . . even though it is on SORN, June I get a demand to pay the £100 fine even though it is on SORN, I write them a lengthy letter telling them it is on SORN and that it hasn't turned a wheel since November . . This week I get a Court date for no insurance on the bike . . . the bike that is on my blanket Insurance and has been on SORN since February!

I've got so fed up with trying to register some of my bikes here in Guernsey , so it's not just UK ,what ever I do just isn't enough so I really can't be arsed any more , they just piss me off so much every time I speak to them ,so I just swap the reg plates
will probably get caught out one day
fuck it that's life.

That changed a few Months ago, they now wanted a reason why there was no title. Bill sent this :
which WAS adequate . . . now they want This :“My importer has instructed me to inform you that the vehicle was imported from a “non-title” state, so dating evidence has been supplied in its place. Everything should therefore be in place for the registration”.

Re: They'll be the death of me . . .
Shit like this could knock the market for newly imported bikes straight out the window....it makes me wonder if it is worth the bother doing my 'scap heap challenge' S1A or not....its certainly not worth it if I do the unthinkable and add up the cost
This could be the final nail in its coffin
I see this sort of shit all the time in my job - Council Planning Departments refusing to register Applications because there is no 'document supporting this or supporting that', a lot of their formerlly 'skilled' Officers are now no more than 'checking clerks' and would rather throw something back at Joe Public than actually get on with their work
Possibly all part of the 'total control' system that is gradually....very, very, slowly, so you don't notice it too much (until its too late) being rolled out.......

I'm losing the will to live . . . I have submitted these applications THREE times now - and wrote the boss a snotty gram yesterday tell her it has now been 2 Months . . . at least she has replied to me :
Good morning
I can find no record of any communication from yourself in July.
Can you reissue the request if you have not already had the issue resolved.

Re: They'll be the death of me . . .
Here's One from Morgan, the guy that built my 400 special and the Kwikasfaki H2 :
So..... DVLA....what a bunch of cunts...
Fitted a new frame to bike from ebay with logbook, same year and modle etc, send off old logbook and new log book asking for my "private" reg to be applied to new frame logbook, wait 6 weeks and get a letter back saying I have to fill out 3 forms and supply pictures before and after new frame was fitted, do the above and wait another 3 weeks.
Get letter today saying the bike will need to be reregistered with a "Q" plate, so I get on the phone, I say I want to keep my "private" reg I payed £600 for and if nessesary I will refit the old frame to do so, get told I can't refit the old frame as my "private" reg is now void!!!!
So after 30mins of foul language from both ends I get put onto another person higher up the DVLA primate ladder, get told to write in and request to keep my "private" reg and they will give it some thought!!!
WANKERS.....
And just so anyone of my bike building mates know, if you replace a frame OR engine your bike WILL be Q plated....
so now we know looks like it's cut the old vin out and reweld it into the new frame?

Re: They'll be the death of me . . .
Keep a vehicle’s original registration number
A rebuilt vehicle can keep its original registration number if you can prove you’ve used:
the original unmodified chassis or bodyshell (car or light van)
a new chassis or monocoque bodyshell of the same specification as the original (car or light van)
the original unmodified frame (motorbike)
a new frame of the same specification as the original (motorbike)
You must also have 2 other major components from the original vehicle from the following lists.
For cars or light vans:
suspension (front and back)
steering assembly
axles (both)
transmission
engine
For motorbikes:
forks
wheels
engine
gear box
Get a Q registration number
DVLA will give your vehicle a ‘Q’ prefix registration number if you don’t meet the conditions for keeping the original registration number.
Your vehicle must pass the relevant type approval test to get a Q registration number.

Re: They'll be the death of me . . .
So if you fit a 6 gearbox on your H2 (wonder somebody make one) you will get a Q plate
just a question how DVLA will count the gears inside the crankcase

The list says 2 out of the list but I think it depends on who you get on the day and what mood they are in, the big epic adventure I had a few months ago getting my dating certificate from Suzuki for my GT750 I sent it along with my logbook to Swansea no word after a month luckily I sent them recorded as they lost them also I had a scan of the dating cert which they only accepted after they eventually admitted losing the original after I sent the tracking so always use recorded and keep a copy of any important docs
Kawasaki H1B, Suzuki GT750A, Triumph Rocket3, Honda 400 four.

Re: They'll be the death of me . . .
Almost there . . . The DVLA quashed my court date for no tax on the H1, Bill got his H1 registered with oodles of paperwork from me, my extra 0 on a title was re NOVA'd and I am just a single NOVA outstanding from the last container
THANK GOD for the Internet where documents can be emailed instantly . . . . I can't imagine how long this would have taken to do by snail mail . . . from the U.S.!

I have just rang the DVLA after not receiving my V5 for my 400. Bought it in May - so thought it should be ready after I cam back from my hols. No record of my application - so I have had to fill in a V62 and pay £25 to apply for a log book. I have nitified them of an engine change and change in colour - I will see what happens?!

I feel your pain!!! Lets face it, there are 32 million vehicles on the roads, thats about .8 million tax (alone ) applications a Month, change of vehicle?12 million a Year/ - so emails must be around a Million a Month ? And snail mail 100,000? 12,000 a day ? The law of averages says 1% will go missing . . . . . .But Hey, I may be right and I may be wrong . . t's my birthday and I have survived another year . . . I Don't care! . . I hope you get it sorted!
