The 2017 "Northern" Rally - IMPORTANT

Post by El Presidente »

To be fair, the Northern Rally really isn't Northern is it? Well, it WAS before the birth of the other rallies around the Country sprang up over the Years, I suppose it should now be call the Central Rally, but, after all, it IS the MAIN Event! . . . And next Years will be the 35th One!
.
So, it would appear that we may have a conflict in the actual even dates and location, last Years Northern was the poorest attended in all the 34 Years that we have been holding them, the general opinion was that MFNs facilities were not up to scratch and the venue had become a little bit tedious . . . Mal as always was fantastic though!

It was also suggested that there are so many rallies and micro rallies now that the attendees are becoming very diluted, there are 3 BIG Rallies, a couple of Micro Rallies, plus the Euro challenge and of course trips to foreign rallies!

With that in mind, I suggested combining the 2017 Euro Triples Drag race challenge at Shakey, with our 2017 Annual Northern Rally.

The reason I am posting this in the non members section is Two fold, firstly, there are a LOT of people that turn up at the rally who are not members and who are often not even triple owners, also we have a lot of "Foreign" visitors to this page, several of whom will be bringing their Triples over to Shakey next Year to go racing . . . . I hear that the ex "Clarkey & Gotz Triple Engined H2 drag bike will also be attending

We will have our own area to camp, the bike judging will be solely on paid up members bikes, there are FAR better facilities, toilets, showers and food stalls, we will still have the ride out Etc. There will be various drag racing all day Sat & Sun - You are under NO pressure what so ever to go racing! . . . Just watch the others it's fun . . .

So, there should be a poll here somewhere -

1, Back to MFN on the 30th June - July 1st 2017

or

2, Attend the Triples Euro challenge at Shakey on 21 -23rd July 2017

It's up to you guys, the poll will be open for 2 weeks
Keep One wheel down . . . . .

There most certainly IS a bar!! . . . . and they don't even whine if you take your OWN beer into the bar and drink it! . . . . It's all very laid back 8)

Mmmm...
There's been talk in another thread about folk turnin up at MFN either on triples or with triples in vans..stoppin for the judging, then clearin off home, leavin the place rather ''desolate'' in the evening.... What makes you think thats gonna be any different if the rally is moved to Shakey?? Personally i think the same situation would happen (or maybe even LESS turnin up ) leaving just the usual Shakey attendee's....
BUT...
I agree that the MFN rally has got sooooo boring in the evenings....maybe a change of venue will do us good....
GOD...! How i miss the way the rallies used to be........

I am happy to go with the majority on this. Its important that as a club we stay tight and together on these sorts of decisions and whichever way is decided I hope that it is well supported by all.

There will be plenty going on at Shakey to keep us entertained & probably good ride-out through the Cotswolds,

I believe the venue is only there for one more year ?

Just wondering will Mal be happy to have us back the following year :smt102

I've never been to Shakey, and TBH I'm open minded about where the event is held

It's true that attend other rallies and plan to do the same again in 2017, I didn't attend the 2016 'Northern' because like others I felt it had become stale ( no not him)

What accommodation is nearby Shakey as its too far for me to travel there and back in a day :?:

I voted for Shakey
I have personal reasons for this,as i will be minding my m8s dog first 2 weeks of July so mfn was out for me anyway.

The biggest problem i have is that with Shakeys is the distance from me a 2 day camel ride as have others.

But i am only 1 of 500 or so members and you will never get somewhere to suit everyone

Go on we may as well call this the National Rally.!!!!!!!!

If this is the last year for Shakey {as someone posted above } we need to be aware of what is ahead in the future . :smt006 :smt006

Good point that. Rick will need to include that in his " Dear John" talk with Mal at MFN.

My thinking is , if Mal has a decent band on the usual w/e of the rally. Then I`ll go and camp there , take my bike. And enjoy a free weekend. amongst the general public. The first MFN rally we shared the space with the public and an AC/DC tribute band on through the back. It was ace !!!

Then I can bring all the usual junk down in the van for Shakey later in the month.

Keeps a bit of continuity with Mal. And saves him money !!!

But who knows. MFN is traditionally always going to be sold. So it may be last time for both places ?!! :smt102

Their web site covers this quite well:-

http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.com/places.asp

B&Bs, Premier Inn, etc

I've got to check out the licence requirements before I can confirm bringing my bike
