I lose mine regularly, especially this time of year, I was going to strip the xt225 top end this afternoon, I've got the exhaust, tank, seat etc off, then it was time for a cuppa! I'll try again tomorrow!

Place an ad in the for sale and wanted section on the forum.

I bet you'll find someone has some stashed away somewhere.

I’ve lost mine as well Eric. :-| Got up this morning & just slumped all day. Hope it’s just that time of year again, cooler and darker.

what the f--- nowhere near what the hell cable is this??? then I realised  I was trying to fit the choke cable to the carbs. I think I need treatment it`s not as if it`s the first time I`ve fitted a throttle cable. :smt102 :D

I have periods of this, like all of us do I'm sure

what works for me, is breaking it down into manageable bits (and by manageable, I mean what can my feeble mind cope with worrying about in one go!)

motivation definitely goes up when sailing along fitting bits, and reconditioned parts, and seeing something come together.

for me it definitely goes down when faced with another session of seized bolts, rusted parts, missing things (especially the things I know I have seen, but are now hiding in a box somewhere), more unavailable components to find, and an ever longer list of things to do.

almost by definition, rebuilding or restoring an old kawasaki seemingly has so many demotivating steps and phases, makes you wonder why any of us even try - until of course it finally comes together and kicks into life.

I am currently in a high motivation phase, my H2/B is coming together at a pace, every day I try to complete another step, however small. I'm currently wiring up while waiting for a few hard to find bits to arrive from far flung places.

but I have another project, that sucks it back out of me, trying to get my Harris to run properly, but its only been two years on and off so far !!!!!

keep plugging away, every little step forward is a good place to stop, and remember there is always light at the end of the tunnel, even if it is just some bugger with a torch bringing you some extra work and more problems !

Struggled with motivation my whole life. It's held me back from many things. I have so many abandoned projects: a moped I took to bits in 1978, a mini pickup I got in 1991 but didn't start until 2012, a Datsun I started renovating in 1995. I started building an H1 special for the 2012 H2 celebrations. All waiting to be finished.

I got a 70 H1 in 1996, US import with smashed engine cases. Took me until 2020 to get it running, MOT'd and registered, coz it was in crap condition and there's no elbow room in my garage, it just sat on the back burner. Will start to restore it some day, at least it's moved up to 4th place of things to do

This is where i find having alternative interests in life helps. I just abandon the h2 in the garage, get on with something else and next spring interest comes back. I once lost interest in the h2a to the point of selling it. I advertised it in MCN for £1000 (having recently won 2nd best H2 at the rally) and got only one call. That was Mr Brett bollocking me and instructed me to keep it!! ~35 years on the purple people eater is still mine (thanks Rick).

Well after 9 months of giving 6 months notice then another 3 months of an eviction notice I finally got rid of a tenant from a property I own . He owes me over £3000 in rent but amazingly left the property in fairly good order only needing about £500 worth of work  . So now hopefully I will get my motivation back now that`s off my plate. :D

Good news Eric. Looks like you got off lightly! I have my tenant notice a year ago and she has decided to stay! Still paying and I have since spoken to her and says she is looking for alternative accommodation but due to her work situation can't get approval. Thought best to keep her in and keep taking money. Property is kept immaculate.

My problem is that I have to work for a living. Then with jobs to do around the house and my daughters house, I never have time to work on bikes :(

Our tenants left after 5 years at the little house we rent out.....she was a DIY fanatic but a shite one....always do regular inspections. Saying that it was not in the best of shape when we bought it so we gave them a free hand. After 3 weeks of toshing and cleaning its ready again. Best thing is that new tenants are from a neighbours rental but need a 2 bed place as they now have a kid , have always paid rent on time and both of them work. Rent has gone up £220 a month and morgage has halved in that time......its a keeper as this area has a huge rental demand and it was the only 2 bed house on the various sites .....all others were flats for rental. Gotta agree tho....look after tenants and hope they do the same. I have sooo many bikes to finish but until we get our place done all I do is buy and sell stuff and wait.....don't fret Eric....it WILL come back...

To be fair they left the house in good order I was expecting to spend thousands to put it right but I think I`ll get away with about £200+. It`s the same down here Rob there are not many houses for sale and when they do come up they sell straight away at a premium and the same goes for rentals there are not many to rent and the rents have sky rocketed.
