Hi Wolfie,
The website requires updating with the new camping price of £7pppn - with the cost of living increasing dramatically the Miners Standard have had to increase their charges too.
Please do not upset the apple cart with them as it has taken Bev and I many hours of negotiating and some cash to get to this point in organising the event. In all honesty I think we probably need their venue at least as much as they need our patronage.
see you there mate. Thumbs Up

Absolutely agree, I loved it at the square and compass but alas they buggered up the license, let's hope this one becomes an annual event, well done Bev and John Thumbs Up

Guys, as I’ve previously indicated, I’m dead keen to attend this rally, but I’m trying to work out the logistics of it all.
My wife (Jane) and I are holidaying in Italy (inc. visiting her extended family) till June 27, then flying from Treviso to Heathrow that day. Jane has a sister living in Nottinghill, where we’ll be based.
My questions, I guess, are - how easy would it be to get to the rally from London?
When would I need to secure accommodation for us by? The glamping sounds okay!
Is there anything else a non-local should think about?
Thanks Steve S for the offer of a bike, sounds great, but I won’t be dragging along riding gear from Aussie sadly. I’ll be happy just to be a spectator … and just be there.

Notting Hill, London
1. Walk from starting location to Ladbroke Grove Underground Station
0.5 mi, about 9 min

11:38
2. Underground/Metro: Circle - Edgware Road
Depart from Ladbroke Grove Underground Station

11:53
Arrive at King's Cross St. Pancras Underground Station
Your stop is next after Euston Square Underground Station
If you reach Farringdon Underground Station, you have gone too far

3. Walk from King's Cross St. Pancras Underground Station to London St Pancras International
0.3 mi, about 5 min
You have 9 minutes to make this connection

12:02
4. Inter-city Rail: E M R - Sheffield
Depart from London St Pancras International
You have 7 minutes to make this connection

13:27
Arrive at Derby
Your stop is next after Leicester
If you reach Chesterfield, you have gone too far

13:34
5. Inter-city Rail: E M R - Matlock
Depart from Derby

14:06
Arrive at Matlock
Your stop is next after Matlock Bath

6. Walk from Matlock to destination location
0.3 mi, about 6 min

Any help Jeff?

As John indicates, there are probably 10 trains a day from London up through Derby-Alfreton-Chesterfield. Or for full flexibility you could rent a car and drive, about 2.5 hours from London.

John,
Thanks for the detail. That will certainly get us out of London and up to Matlock.
Since my message, I’d done a bit of further research, and figured this …
Train from London to Matlock on Friday.
Meet you guys at Matlock for the dinner.
Maybe taxi, or hitch a ride, to The Miners to stay in pre-booked accommodation for 2 nights.
Enjoy Saturday.
Back to Matlock and train back to London on Sunday.
Simples … hopefully :?

Evening gents,
Not sure yet how many of you guys have booked for camping / glamping or sleeping in your vans / caravans / motor homes.
Please don't forget to book at the pub - it gets very busy and is extremely advisable to book a pitch.
Anyone who is staying at the Premiere Inn Matlock and wants to take advantage of the mini bus service needs to let me know - so far I know of four people.
If I don't see you at Fleetwood - hopefully see you at the Peak rally.
Cheers.

Will do Jeff Thumbs Up

Spoke to the landlady of the Miners Standard last night - there has been a good response to the camping and glamping - which is great news.
There are two glamping pods still available - please contact the pub directly if you want to book one.
See you all soon.
