I would just like to say a big thank you to all the all the lads in this club For all their Help and support and without it I and lot of lads would find it lot more difficult or perhaps impossible to keep our bikes on the road or having to pay a fortune getting the bits from the states.
A special shout out to 'rubbadub' for just a gesture, 2 hours after saying I needed a starter spring and guide he came to the rescue.
A big thanks to all those who gave encouragement and helped me on my recent nearly finished restoration.
Still having trouble getting gears so the engine is back on bench for the umpteenth time. But I'll get there.

heard about not getting gears several times, worried me too at first,
if you sure built it right, you wont or it wont feel like gear engagement until you ride the god dam bike,..it wont feel like its selecting properly until the engine is running, wont feel right sat on the bench,..whats the problem with the gearbox ?
Everything seems OK on the bench the selector shaft is brand new so it's maybe that cos it's snugg to say least, the last shaft snapped in half not by me it was like that when I got the bike off Rick, But when the bike is in frame with the gear selector attached nearly impossible to get anything. This time I'll make double sure everything is running smooth before I put in the frame
yow,
gears are hard to select properly without the the clutch actuation,,
they always feels duff, stiff and clumsy, guess you was real unlucky with that one,...
I know this sounds silly, but difficult gear selection has nearly always turned out to be gearshift related for me. Have a look at the gear shifter before you deck the motor again. If you would like a hand I'm just down the road pm me
When I stripped the box I noticed the dogs on 5th where clashing with first when in the neutral position that seems to be where it was tightening up when I spun the shaft on bench. So I had a good shuftie and noticed there was 2x 1mm steel washers beside first gear so I replaced one of them with a 0.5 washer a per manual. I had to completely re-shim one of the shafts as it was a replacement as the previous one had half it's teeth missing when I got the Things seem to run a lot smoother now.
