to a new arai phil read replica,not because i like phil read...at all...just love the style.It retails at £370,i paid £270 from shorrocks in penwortham.A lot of money still i know,but what price safety?? as they say " you put a ten bob head in a ten bob helmet".

Was looking at them on Sunday! They have a good sale at Shorrocks at the moment.

Love the Sheene replica as well.

Yes i like buying at shorrocks Tony as they will always do a deal on helmets and clothing which makes me keep going back.

I would never buy an arai helmet as Iv'e Tried them but they don't fit my head there was always a huge gap at the back of my head. I have a shoei at the moment and it's spot on

If you actually look at the new sharp tests for helmets the arai actually do very badly and some budget brands score top marks.That aside there is plenty of footage of racers really testing out arais to the limit and walking away.You pay your money and take your choice.And you are correct nogger an arai either fits or not but for me it is very comforting and reassuring pulling on an arai before a ride.Maybe i have just been sucked in by the hype??

There's been loads written about those sharp tests Adie, and I think the jury is out as to how reliable they really are in assessing helmet performance...you are dead right about the number of professional who use Arai as the helmet of choice and the fact that fit is all important

I have both 1x Shoei and 2x Arai and its Arai for me, but my best mate is the same as you and will only have Shoei

as for the buget lids well I got one from the IOM

a Nitro as it was the first time I have been to the Island well its Crap

by the time it is for sale in the shops £99

that came from a Nitro Rep

and yes he don't work there any more

Yes very cool Lid and i used to own one of the original agv replicas but i need something that looks ok when riding a 1920's bike also, otherwise i would of gone for a sheene replica.In fact i missed out about 5 years ago when arai did a sheene replica.

BTW I had a £100 Nitro lid before the Arai I have now. The Nitros may be cheap but the ventilation system is miles better than the Arai and it was a hell of a lot quieter.

I like the Arai for fit and its light but its not that much better than the Nitro. Now if I could get them for £3 I could have a new one every week.

yep ear plugs are a must with an arai,although you do say that because it is designed for racers they do not consider the noise an issue
