Accident Victims at 2011 Southern Rally

Post by GinaG »

Hi Again everyone thanks for all the positive comments, I?ve not heard one negative one yet  :D Saying that it wasn?t quite as rosy for Barry Johnson on his immaculate Urine Green Triumph Speed Triple & John Stacey on his Red/Blue & White (wash my mouth out with soap) Honda CBR600 :?

I would just like to clarify the truth here as there were several juiced up stories being told about what happened?

Barry Johnson is a friend of mine and in the day had a Z900 he is also the service manager at WJ King Vauxhall who services my car. Barry likes to take a few photo?s & most years has come to the new southern rally, this year his young daughter could not be asked to get out the sack so Barry came on his own!!

Firstly John I think you get down to spec savers mate & get your bins looked at!!

I had an email this morning from Chris AKA Mini Man to say how bad he felt about the whole thing. So I went to see Barry today at work to make sure he was OK, This what he said.........

Barry & John were both riding at the back with the time keeper Ian Bryant on his GPZ900 (Hi-viz) John 1st came unstuck on his CBR600 when we were blasting down the Military Cannel & miss judged a bend and went through a hedge into a ditch! :(

Guess who came to the rescue like a knight in shinning armour & pulled him out??.. Barry Johnson on his Triumph Speed Triple! 8)

Later as we were leaving the pilot I was in front so did not see what happened next. The last few bikes consisted of Chris (Mini Man) on his immaculate blue S3400 followed by Barry Johnson, John Stacey, the time keeper Ian Bryant & as luck would have it AJ & son in the family motor. At this point no one was going very fast when the right side panel fell off Chris?s S3 so Barry slowed up to avoid running over it when John hits Barry?s rear tyre square on at around 30mph!!!

Bikes & bodies all over the road AJ & Son & Ian helped to clear up the carnage and not a punch up in sight as someone had said?

Barry said sure he was pissed off his bike had never been scratched but they were both OK & that?s what was more important. They both decided to call it a day and go home. John said to Barry that he lived in Ipswich & did not know how to get home, no problem Barry said I will take you to the M20 & point you in the right direction.

On the way home Barry called into Laguna Motorcycles Maidstone & got a new clutch leaver. The damage cost is being sorted between them so at least that?s OK and there is a happy ending & Barry?s daughter is safe & well at home!

Barry said he woke up Sunday bruised and batterd & ached all over but said it could have been much worse!

Cheers Guys I?m glad you?re OK Delboy.

Hi all,

Thanks for clarifying and crushing the stupid stories that are bound to circulate.
After I eventually made it back to the pub (thanks to the map) with a guy on a nice blue H1F I was shocked to find out there had been a second incident involving John, consequently I took off for home via Ipswich to check out the damage.
Thankfully as you have explained, it was only bumps (pretty big ones) and bruises plus cosmetic to the bike.
As ever there are variations in the account of events offered but the good thing is, there is an understanding that sometimes shit just happens and it certainly happened on Saturday.
For my own part (I was the guy riding the kettle if you hav'nt already caught on) it was good to meet you all and it was good to re-visit the Kent countryside (my wifes family home).
I will leave with just one comment,
Del, get my shirt in the post!
Regards,
Geoff.
