Admitted Defeat!!!

Post by Smokie »

Hello All :D ,

Have finally admitted defeat! :(

Totally fed up with getting Petrol everywhere due to a "Phantom" Fault with the H1 Tap.

Repaced everything including the Diaphragm but still leaks!!
Just bought a reconditioned one from my old mate Jess Freeby - So hopefully no more! :?

Suspect the Internals are at fault?

Thankgod I don,t smoke!!!

Ta Ta - Keith

I have re-built MANY, never given up on one yet but they can be VERY fickle! Jess is a good bloke but I REALLY don't think he rebuilds them himself ? let's face it, he has a full time job and sells 100+ items a week on Ebay - when would he find the time to rebuild stuff ?

I have one tap that will not repair and I think there is a problem with the casting. So anyway, all number of seals and rebuilds have not sorted it so it is now in quarantine.

You can't rely on the float valves in the carbs to secure the expensive liquid dripping and vaporising form your tank. If you leave your bike in the street overnight (like we had to in the IOM, and with this pesky tap dripping away) it becomes a worry.

It could only take one careless smoker walking past to wreak havoc.

You don't have to tell me about stinking petrol - Harv had that problem for months till he bought an on/off tap. During that time he amassed a collection of petcocks, diaphrams, and repair kits - they are labelled 'Offerings to the God of Leaky Taps in our garage

He thinks he has finally managed to get one to work though - been on the bike for the past month and so far (fingers crossed) no petrol smell and no drips

He even bought himself a chromed petcock - is of absolutely no functionary use of course - I think he is going to mount it on a piece of wood and have it as a trophy to himself if he wins his petcock war
