Looks like old RTV someone had used to plug the lower check valve ports in the bottom case half......

i agree, bearing seat holes in bottom half of the crankcase or check valve ports on h2b/c . often formed by burnt claggy 2 stroke oil. it goes rock hard.

Yes indeed, Red gasket goo filling the rear crank case oil ways.
Surprised its not caused a problem before.
On the way back from Spa after a few 100's of miles not far from home the engine slowed. Pulled the clutch and coasted to a stop and called the rescue van.
After all the hassel of getting the barrels off found the RH piston luckily has only some small polished points.
But then noticed the bunged up holes.
Had this been pushing more oil through he carbs, or do I just normally drive very slowly (I think not)?
