Just renewed mne with Peter James (two bikes) = £112.
It is worth phoning insurance companies and threatening to go elsewhere when they increase the premium - I did it twice this year, once with Carole Nash for my modern bikes, once with Direct Line for my car. Coincidentely, they reduced both quotes by £83 :?
Corporate scum bags.

Come to think of it, I did it with my Dog insurance and plumbing insurance as well.....with success..

I have had my current modern bike (A KTM Superduke 990) and the H2 insured by MCE for the last few years. My last premium was about £300 fully comp. When I moved to Bristol a few weeks ago I had to pay a bit of an excess because I lived in a higher risk area than before.

So now my policy is up for renewal and I saw here that several people are insured through Carole Nash so thought it may be worth getting a competitive quote.

After several hours of painful telephone interviews and agonisingly slow questions and details this is the result.

Carol Nash: Fully comprehensive cover through Aviva for both bikes (all mods to KTM fully disclosed). Premium £1012.00

MCE: Fully comprehensive cover by themselves for both bikes (all mods to KTM fully disclosed). Premium £395.00

I know every bike and personal circumstance makes a big difference to everybody and one can't expect to get a good deal at one place just because someone else does but to me the difference here is astounding! Carole Nash tried to defend their position by saying that they were "the best, not the cheapest" and that it was so high because my KTM is far from standard but SME asked the same questions and dealt with the same facts.

Also the package that came with the SME included track day cover, Euro cover, UK breakdown cover as well as being similar to the old Norwich Union rider policy because I'm also covered to ride any other bike with the owners permission.

Result!

Carole Nash were bought by the AA. Years ago. And immediately started hiking the prices .

all the corporate boys play the "double glazing " game. Quote a stupid price , or hike up the renewal premium every year by a ludicrous amount , and hope you are too busy to check. There must be a percentages study that proves to them this is most profitable / least risk strategy .

we keep hearing on the tv/ radio news of how majority of folk never switch banks/pensions/ insurance on anything. Year after year . so "they" get away with it.

Remeber , no business based on taking money for a service they never provide , is your friend. They're out to screw you. Even my " customer owned". Bank tried to screw me on house insurance . As a " loyal" customer and stakeholder , I was expected to pay £100 more on my house insurance , than a new customer could get. Screw them !!!!!!

Dang, we got those same types here! When I called about they claimed a mistake right up until I asked how much they were going to refund! Had a new carrier within the hour and was perfect timing since the premiums for both the car truck and all the bikes were due so they didn't "get me" on the "pro-rata" game.

Because of the burglary I've just added another 8 bikes to my RH policy and they wanted an extra £70. Cheap for peace of mind.

Been with Carle Nash since 1980 when she used to operate from her kitchen at home, got my renewl this year for 23 bikes £690 , got the same insurance with Peter James for £368 , as you say CN has gone down the piss taking route, Peter James is the retired partner of Footman James he got fed up with retirement and started up again , they also do private van ins plus various other stuff .

Don't forget to ring up and question your renewal fee if it has gone up too much, and tell them that you are considering going elsewhere. The bastards nearly always reduce it Thumbs Up

I even got my A.A. breakdown cover etc. reduced from about £180 - down to £119 recently (the same as the RAC - what a coincidence  ).

Yep FJ told me they'd knock £105 off... asked why I only get this offer when calling to cancel, the reply was 'I don't know, it's what the system says...'

Recently saved over £500 shifting house insurance and gas/leccy. However, I think the only way to keep the best deals is to get quotes every couple of years
