Who knows how to stop the kickstart rattling ? I’ve not been on the road yet but I can see it will rattle. I added a washer on the outside of the pin but really needs a small shim between k/start and attaching block …

Your favourite beer can or shim brass wrapped around the pin will cut down the looseness. But ultimately having the boss drilled and sleeved is the long term solution.

Didn’t get enough done to get her running yesterday. We had to go out .
I’ve still got the brake actuator lever to fit and connect up the cable. Then I can lock up the back wheel in gear and tighten the crankshaft nut .
Then I’m ready to roll . Gonna have a few dummy kicks over to see if I can see the oil pump working. I’ve put 33-1 mix in the tank.
Won’t start till tonight as my youngest wants to come round to see it start and his wife has the job of fitting the grab handle so she can say she’s done something on it.

Also have to cut the grass this morning

You'll not see any progress from the oil pump just by kicking over, the amounts used are miniscule, it needs to be running and the cam held wide open.

Don't forget to video those first kicks for the rest of us..

Well now , I just tried to get it started and just kinda popped once but that was it.
I’ve set ignition up as it says on the instructions for the Accent ignition. Checked for spark and that’s good…
Any other suggestions to check ?

I am so hot and sweaty now plus I have a poorly right foot which doesn’t help ( fractured or broken toe) so I’ve give it a rest.
I did put the petrol on normal but realised with only 3 litres in it should be on reserve so I did that.
Is 3 litres enough to reach the fuel tap ?

What’s the easiest way to check the timing is at least close…?

Still not starting . I’ve checked the plugs and they are sparking but to be shouldn’t they have petrol on them ?
Maybe I should be looking at fuel system. But it’s odd for all 3 carbs not to supply fuel …
I’ll take off fuel pipes tomorrow to see …

I don't worry about the rattles on mine as you can't hear anything at full chat

When I rebuilt my KH250 engine I was in same position as you as it would not start, after going over and over the set up and still no start I gave it a sniff of easy start and off it went, just needed that little bit of extra help on the first start.

I put it down to putting to much oil in the bores and on the rings as I built it up.

Did you remove the air inlet tubes to administer it ?

If I remember rightly I just sprayed some into the air filter intake snail, but I can't just be sure, apologies for the vagueness. Good luck

I've got Accent on mine and I think I'm using the standard spark plug gap.

I’ll get some easystart tomorrow… and give it a try .
Gonna check fuel feed as well as I was expecting the plugs to be wet but they were still dry.

Hi Phil,

.6 to .7 on your plug gap for standard set up, sorry to hear that she not playing ball with you, if your plugs are still try then I would look at the fuel side of things by making sure there is enough petrol in the tank first to fill the carbs, petrol flowing through fuel pipes by pulling each pipe off the carb and turning on the petrol tap, or if you have inline filters on watch to see if the petrol is filling them up then stopping as the carbs becomes full.
Again to fill your oil lines, this is best done when she is ticking over and then by hand open the pump cam as full as you can and watch the pipes fill with oil, when there is more smoke coming out from the exhausts let the cam return to the cable control, may smoke a bit more as you have pre mix petrol then oil pump pumping together.

Cheers, I’ll be careful with the oil delivery , I know it’s got to work ok or I’ll mush the newly refurbished engine

Still no joy. Tried easy start and plug gaps are fine.
I did notice a split in a fuel line at the tap outlet so new piece of hose fitted.
Next thing is to check the timing . I did it as per the Accent instructions but I’ll do it again ……,
